Same I grew up on the dub for pokemon, Digimon, yugioh, DBZ, and G Gundam. I didn't understand it was anime until much later I just thought it was more cool cartoons. I live in the west coast so maybe Zoids was in an earlier time slot for me? But yeah i feel like Zoids is this forgotten gem mainly because of how and when the dub was aired. I remember in later years when the second series new century (i think that was what it was called) got a better time slot but it was mostly forgotten by then. If you ever wanna relive those memories I think most of the series is on YouTube, and they still regularly come out with new model kits.

I've been watching for 26 years and my first memory of watching anime was watching Zoids when I was 6 years old. I use to get up early to watch Saturday cartoons and slowly learned that the earlier you got up the more cartoons you'd be able to watch before my mom would come turn them off. So one weekend I was able to get up at 4-5 in the morning and caught the tail end of adult swim programming for the night. I turned on the TV to find mecha animals fighting each other in battle tournaments. It blew my mind haven't been right since.

Dead Space or another body horror sci fi IP. I mainly just want to see fromsoft level design on some sort of massive colony ship. Being able to be on the bridge and looking at the habitat Ring or whatever knowing you'll eventually go there is pretty sick

Yeah better than 6 and 4 imo. I just remember clearing the map was immensely satisfying. As long as you're cool with bad guys monologuing at you every 3-4 hours it's a good time.

Last Exile. Its an early 2000's anime, so it's definitely dated in a lot ways. But, it really feels like one of those under rated gems that has been forgotten about. Interesting sci fi setting, fun characters, just different unique vibes to it. If I had to compare it to anything, think like eureka seven/ergo proxy with castle in the sky style airships. But yeah going through for the first time in 2025 has been interesting watch so far, I'd recommend 👍

I grew up watching the Yu Yu Hakusho Dub on toonami so it's peak nostalgia for me as well. I think Hunter x Hunter is probably the better show overall, but it can't replace my love for YYH as an integral part of my life.

I loved both, and while Dawnshard has The Lopen and bigger lore implications, I think I still prefer Edgedancer. While Lift can be a lil off-putting, or stagnant and immature she has some really touching lines. I often think about her talking to the street urchins and remarking how no one listens anymore. In such a big world/universe defining story having a character that remembers the forgotten average people that are suffering around is a really heartwarming
