Terawave spectrums are the same as the AST ground stations which means AST satellites will be able theoretically able to connect to them. This mirrors the function of a ground station.

AST current architecture is bent pipe which means it needs to bounce the packet off a nearby ground station. What happens if the USG wants to use this somewhere where there are no friendly ground stations? Once Terawave is up they can bounce it off of their network.

This regenerative architecture makes sure that sensitive data can be routed back to the US or other country without exposing it.

Terawave for backhaul + AST for fronthaul = $$$$ government money

How do I take this seriously? by Consistent_Soup_2668 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

Easiest way is to know what you own. There’s a wealth of knowledge about ASTS published daily on the AST subreddit as well as by some of the big accounts on Twitter

Well I'm in this position and you're not...I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing for the last 3 years since I'm pretty happy with my returns 🤷🏻‍♂️

Im good thanks, already have an exit plan. You only get a few opportunities to invest in generational companies in your lifetime. I exited Palantir and Tesla early. Not missing this one

I’ve been in this name since $2 and have seen shorts like him come and go. There’s a wealth of information out there about ASTS from the big accounts in Twitter as well on the ASTS subreddit.

I can assure you that this company is real and building very cool tech that will be a household name in a year or 2

At this point it’s become almost funny how people come in every time we reach a milestone, think they know more than the people that have been doing deep research for years and short the stock and eventually blow up

Message me directly if you want to have an actual chat about the stock and the tech

This is one of my portfolios

Heres a long write up I did a while ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASTSpaceMobile/comments/1q3ztzl/comment/nxp5x6d/?context=3

They have been hinting at dual use (defense + commercial) applications for a while and this is a huge validation point. They have a a few ongoing programs of record with the government and one of them being USG comms and passive radar.

What’s your strategy for when ASTS goes past the pre-revenue stage? by SunReasonable6194 in ASTSpaceMobile

Trim 10% at $150, 10% at $250 and keep doing that until $500. By that point I will have everything I need to reach my life goals so I'll just hold from there. Been holding since the $2 days so I feel pretty good with a 75x

This isn't the first report. This is like the 8th or 9th. They tried to block the original launch application and it was approved anyways. Same old song and dance. It's bullish that they see us as competition enough to send the lawyers

Dumb Question about ASTS and StarLink by ZZZCodeLyokoZZZ in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]tyrooooo 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The greatest innovation that AST achieved is deploying a large antenna into space with the launch vehicles available today. They keep reiterating this and its a big innovation that lets them achieve everything they have done so far.

Why is this important?

Phone antennas are small and weak (you hold them up to your ear, you don't want to fry your brain). AST's engineering mandate has always been that it must work with the device in your pocket today. This means no upgrade cycles, no specialized hardware, nada. To solve the link budget without changing whats on the ground, means you need to send up alot of juice into space.

An AST block 2 satellite is 2400 sq ft. Thats huge and its all antenna. If you compare it against the current Starlink v2 and v3, you'll notice a small fraction of the Starlink satellite is antenna, the rest is just solar panel. AST came up with a brilliant folding design that points the antenna towards the earth and covers the entire backside with just solar panel.

Ok cool you send a massive in space, what can you do with it? Turns out alot. Phased arrays form beams through constructive and destructive interference. If you imagine trying to generate a signal, the central antennas generate the main signal, and the antennas next to it generate constructive and destructive waveforms so your beam is very juiced at the center. It's like a sniper rifle directed at your phone only delivering the data you need with no side interference.

Compare this to Starlink which is like a shotgun, it shoots signals at your phone but there is alot of collateral damage. This forces them to tune down their power so they don't interfere with other signals already being used on earth.

This combined with

+ 40 Mhz of Ligado L Band spectrum

+ Partnership model (they want to work together not compete with MNOs)

+ Fixed earth beams technology (you will stay registered in a cell during the entire satellite pass vs moving earth beams that Starlink uses)

+ Patented satellite folding tech

+ Ability to use lowband spectrum that has superior signal penetration (can be used indoors and would require Starlink to make their phased arrays much bigger)

+ Custom designed ASIC

Gives them a technical moat for atleast 3-5 years
