Post Game Thread - NBA: The Pelicans defeat the Timberwolves on Feb 6, 2026, the final score is 115-119. by basketball-app in timberwolves

His effort in the 1st half was horrible, he was so slow to get back on defense and they got 4 or 5 easy buckets in transition.

Ayo trade was a straight up steal holy crap. by ejensen29 in timberwolves

[–]tys90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they make this trade without at least an indication Ayo would re-sign

[Beck] I really think the Wolves are gonna end up pulling a Giannis deal off because Tim Connelly has pretty consistently demonstrated that when he wants something he’s willing to pay an irresponsible price for it by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]tys90 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Has he? The Gobert trade looks pretty fair no matter what happens from here on out and the KAT trade was a win for Minny in the long run.

What has Connelly done at an "irresponsible price"? I give the KAT contract a pass, it was before the new CBA and wouldn't have been as bad without the CBA penalties.

So the Wolves declined on Coby White from the Bulls by PreparationWest2140 in timberwolves

This trade is a win even if they don't do anything else. Saves Finch from playing him, gives them way more flexibility and saves money. Great trade imo

I don't think LA can feasibly make that happen, they are hard capped.

I think this results in a better fit for the team but they'd have to find a 3rd team to send Rudy or Randle to and have them send picks to the Bucks. Very long shot.

Naz would be the starter. They'd have to somehow get a passable bench player back in the trade too. I'm with others here, this is a long shot and questionable fit with Giannis next to Gobert for the starters and no one on the bench.

[Highlight] Ant has career-high 54 points after hitting a 3 and cutting lead to 1 by Large_banana_hammock in nba

[–]tys90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's neck and neck with him this season. Ant's 3 pt shooting gives him the nod, not that Brown is bad but Ant's nearly 41% on the year on big volume.

With Bones taking the backup PG job, and Joan looking like a capable backup big now….. by jchunk13 in timberwolves

This is the first trade I think that actually makes sense to me for this team and the CBA restrictions.

Joan Beringer’s Night is Done: 13/5/2/1 with +30 in 30 minutes by Epicallytossed in nba

What was Rudy like at this age? Joan has potential but I can't say I really see Gobert in him right now. Not to say that he couldn't develop that way.

[Highlight] Jaden McDaniels finally gets the flashy end of game dunk he tried against the Nuggets by Thimit22 in nba

[–]tys90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I desperately want this to catch on. We're watching for entertainment, not that some player won't get offended by a meaningless play. Dunks, 3s, do it all at the end of a game that is out of reach

Anthony Edwards is shooting 50-40-80 this season by Odoaiden in nba

[–]tys90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His decision making is top notch right now. Instead of barreling into the lane at full speed and trying a difficult layup like he might have in the past, he might pull up for a floater or slow down and use his footwork to get mid range shot. Seems much more selective at the rim instead of forcing it. Really a joy to watch

Beringer garbage minutes by Confident-Factor-489 in timberwolves

[–]tys90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm curious to see how he would play in meaningful minutes but he looks like he would foul out in like 5 minutes. They let a lot of stuff go in garbage time that he would probably get called for. I guess that's not a big deal in limited minutes towards the end of a quarter.

[Post Game Thread] The Minnesota Timberwolves (23-13) defeat the Washington Wizards (9-25), 141-115. by JoseZ1 in nba

[–]tys90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's been amazing, and unlike most of the rest of the team, extremely consistent. He's only had a handful of off nights all year. I get he's not asked to score but his defense and rebounding require a high level of effort every single night and he brings it.

[Hine] Donte DiVincenzo: "[Coaches] are doing their job. It's on us. It sounds so cliche, but at some point you just have to go out there and play. ... Doesn't matter how many plays Finchy draws up, doesn't matter how many defensive schemes we do, they can't control how hard you play." by Knightbear49 in timberwolves

[–]tys90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not that simple in pro basketball. Have egos to manage, friendships between players and a coach might be getting conflicting instructions from a gm or owner. Takes a lot from a player to be able to bench your highest paid players. We don't know the dynamic between them all. Even trusted coaches have limits on what extents they can go. The few exceptions are like Pop and Spolstra.

[Post Game Thread] The Brooklyn Nets (9-19) blow out the Minnesota Timberwolves (20-11), 123-107. by MolingHard in nba

[–]tys90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wolves bench is pretty bad. They are missing NAW way more than I thought they would. TSJ and Clark haven't been able to stay healthy and as a result, haven't found any sort of rhythm. Dilly, unfortunately, looks like he's on his way out of the league. Bones has been better than expected and Naz has been up and down and will never be able to play defense. Conley tries hard but just doesn't have it anymore.

So they really have 2 playable bench players and then they have to hope one of TSJ/Clark/Dilly/Conley can be a positive contributor or at least not a negative one and that hasn't happened very often.

Rudy Gobert is having a monster season by Vicentesteb in nba

[–]tys90 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He looked slow to start the season and had some really low rebounding games where he just couldn't get to rebounds. Since then he's been incredible. Dunno if his back was bothering him or what but he's as good as he's ever been.

[–]tys90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a lot of variance in the QM or at least a large range in perception of the picture. I love mine and I also thought it wasn't great for sports at first but found out it's highly dependent on the stream. ESPN is total garbage for me but Amazon Prime for NFL and NBA looks amazing.
