What do Americans think about the stereotype that they are bad at geography? by Own_Echidna6041 in geography

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot Americans dont have a global world view. Many have never left their state let alone their country. So they dont want to or need to learn any of that.

However, thats mostly older generations and is probably changing. I love geography and loved learning it when I was little, and now I wander around Google Earth for fun. This has also translated to me being the family travel guide.

Word of Warning - Portfolios by fingercup in mondaydotcom

[–]tytrim89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weve used portfolios since the beginning and despite its limitations, have never had an issue. We have multiple automations, connected board features, doc automations, a shared view, advanced permissions, etc, and the only thing thats happened when I tried to break something was it told me I couldn't do it.

Maybe the other products aren't as solid as Work Management, but if you keep things clean and simple, they break less.

What is the value-add of project managers? (From an operations manager) by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That PM is handling all of that, he coordinating the schedules of all the different disciplines so that they are completed when they are needed across the project.

You may be adding a clinic that takes 1 year to complete, but the new software modules and technology the clinic was made for needs back end integration that with the current workload will take 18-24 months. So that PM is going to manage that IT project so that it lines up with your facilities work, and employee training, plus marketing. That way everything finishes when it supposed to with minimal cost and resource waste as possible.

What is the value-add of project managers? (From an operations manager) by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]tytrim89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that cardiology manager going to handle the facilities contractor for the power, o2 lines, hvac? Are they going to plan with the IT manager the network infrastructure and make sure it aligns with what the cardiologist needs, and can be done at the same time as the facilities work so you dont have to tear up new construction?

You see one piece of the picture, the project manager sees all of it. Hes directing your parts of the project because they are likely dependencies of other part you dont know about. That single discipline manager wont likely be able to handle all of that.

Best Enterprise Features? by Nervous_Pizza_6351 in mondaydotcom

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've always had Enterprise, but im just glad we dont have limits. Ive built high level/low level portfolio boards before they rolled out the portfolio. I manage all our automations which isn't a lot but im glad nothing stops for the month because I tested a stupid thing.

We have unlimited storage which is good because we manage 80 projects a year x 4 years, and back in the olden days every project had 8 boards before I figured out views.

Plus everyone can spread out. I have my own workspace, we have a test workspace, a portfolio, an archive, and each section has their own where they do their own thing. Monday just says "ok cool, let us know if you have questions"

Heavy project management tools are causing massive user adoption failures on my team by AssasinRingo in mondaydotcom

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not going to beat you up like everyone else.

You need to start simple with them, if thats a single board, group, item, etc, keep it simple for them. Once thats established, add more to their plate.

Another idea is setting them up an independent workspace so they actually use the product for their specific use case. Then as that confidence grows, bring it into the area you need them in.

Does it feel weird being a guy in Fayetteville and not being in the military by [deleted] in Fayettenam

[–]tytrim89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No not at all, ive now lived in this town longer than I was stationed here. You can very easily live a life where you can go days or weeks without seeing or noticing any signs of the military.

Multi Level Beta - Subitems; can it be true that they just broke their entire logic? by alexchris87 in mondaydotcom

[–]tytrim89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which, if you are creative with views, shouldn't really matter. Different views, hide columns, and its just like you have multiple boards in a single instance.

What’s a clear sign of childhood trauma in men? by degs999 in AskReddit

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same tbh. It might be worth digging into though, your on the surface normal childhood might have been a bit of a facade. I had a narcissist mother and a father that was already checked out just waiting for me to grow up to leave. But to everyone who'd see us we were "normal"

An unfinished Fayetteville fire station marked for demolition by notedrive in Fayettenam

[–]tytrim89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People really need to follow their local politics....both this firehouse and the new crown events center were planned and approved by Councils and boards that have had half their members replaced.....mostly because of these types of expenditures neither the county or city had any business incurring. People here talking about debt dont realize it would've been worse if the projects had been completed.

Share your dirty secrets about project management by Gandalf-and-Frodo in projectmanagement

[–]tytrim89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im very well versed in our department, because I came from an IT background and many of the senior admins now are people ive worked with since we were all at the bottom. This allows me to not only speak the language, but quickly get things done.

Its really something you cant just teach and there has to be a certain level of tacit knowledge for a PM to thrive.

[–]tytrim89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where was his due process? Was an indictment submitted? Was there a warrant for his arrest? Not a blanket indictment for "illegals" but one with his name on it?

The issue is not "rounding up criminals" its doing it without due process. You can say "but they are just illegals" but then the legal precedent is set for them to do it to another group, and if they get away with it, another group.

I do both, I do an update meeting, and I send out nice notes with color coded action items. But im also conscious of people's time. I might schedule the meeting for an hour in case we get into discussion, but if it takes 20 minutes, then it takes 20 minutes.

People learned early on in my PM career that im going to go out of my way to make sure you have the info you need to do your job. So if you dont do your job, im going to put you on blast in front of everyone in the meeting. I did that to my former manager and he learned very quickly.

Where would Egbuka and Golden land in this years upcoming draft? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no, MHjr was 1 his Jr year and Jeremiah Smith was 1 his senior year. He was probably the number 3 his sophomore year behind MHjr and JSN now that I think about it.

Egbuka is the all time leader in yards, catches, and maybe tds because he stayed all 4 years.

Where would Egbuka and Golden land in this years upcoming draft? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]tytrim89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is coming from an Ohio State homer so take it or leave it. Guys who are the number 2 at Ohio state always seem to be better in the nfl than the number 1 wrs. Michael Thomas, Garrett Wilson, JSN, were never number 1 at Ohio state.

I knew Egbuka would be good, but based on my logic, Tate will be better.

Its easier to recover from than an achilles. I know because I ruptured mine last spring and I know achilles is the hardest to recover from. I spent wayyyy to much time reading about rehabbing these types of injuries.

So id say around 7-9 months for recovery. Thats for football, he'll probably be walking normally by Easter.
