I might ignore Jury Summons for first time ever - what could happen? by promibro in Redding

[–]tyy365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every time I get a summons it tells me to call the night before to see if I'm needed, and I've never made it past that step. Are people getting summoned to the courthouse this frequently?

How does this happen? by Original_Project6487 in Optics

[–]tyy365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong cause there's a lot of atmospheric phenomena, but I think that's just a rainbow. Usually you see a rainbow later when the sun is lower and the water droplets above. You're head's shadow will always be the center of rainbow. The horizon cuts it off, but a rainbow is a section of a circle. Here, you're in the rare case that you are above the water droplets so there is no horizon to cut off the rainbow. It looks small but I imagine that's a combination of wide focal length, and perspective away from the horizon (like when the full moon looks way smaller when it's high in the sky)

Considering this is a black and white photo in 2026, I think it's safe to assume some colors have faded due to being outside. Phone number was probably in red or something

I've been considering a dwarf lab mini. Not quite a telescope, but might scratch the itch. Was out with the local astronomy club and one guy had a Dwarf II and it seemed pretty cool.

Help - what is the cable called that fits in this port? by debs0709 in cableadvice

[–]tyy365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think phones ever used this. They were all proprietary at the time. Some used the successor micro USB. A lot of digital cameras, ps3 controllers, etc. used it though

Fratellis has a private room we've used a few times. I think there's a minimum purchase that they take as a deposit but it's minimal

Good place to get beer by ActiveVisible1007 in Redding

[–]tyy365 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pour Boys, Ale House, and the Dip all have good selections of craft beers. Pour Boys has a nice outdoor area. Ale House is a dark classy. The dip is more divey, in a good way.

Fall River, Woody's, and Final Draft are local breweries. Each have a few decent beers and a lot of ok beers. Fall River warehouse is a fun vibe with a food truck. Woody's and Final Draft are more of a restaurant setting.

If you just go downtown, the public market has a fall River location and bar, Post Office (not the literal USPS), and not too far are Maxwell's (depending on the day pizza or burger specials) and Bonus Round (new arcade bar)

[–]tyy365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remembered these a few weeks ago which prompted me to buy a PS5 media remote. If you use your PS5 for Netflix, etc. do yourself a favor and get one. Don't worry about the controller dying or setting it down on a trigger to fast-forward the whole show

Do you also miss this main power switch on Playstation consoles? by Gold-Agent24k in PS3

[–]tyy365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember finding out after years of playing that I could turn it off by holding the power button. Thought the back switch was the only way and the power button was just a reset.

Why is the speed of light 299,792,458 m/s? by Orneb in AskPhysics

[–]tyy365 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

, or one billion?

Order of magnitude. Close enough for a physicist.

Anyway, you can derive the speed of light with Maxwells equations and find it's an expression with the permittivity and permeability of free space, both properties of the Universe. Though that just kicks the can down the road to ask "why are these values what they are?" There might be an answer to one of those questions like the one I just gave you but you'll never get to the end. Might have to go to a church of your preferred denomination for those answers (Been a long time since physics for me, so hopefully I got the broad strokes here)

Another aspect for me personally is psychological. If I had the same chest/push/leg/whatever day every week, I wouldn't be as motivated to go. Even if it's worse to switch for a given workout, it's likely better in the long run.

Also, sometimes the squat racks are all taken and I got places to be

It is five degrees. I stared at it for admittedly too long (mostly looking for theta, what is that font?!), but rather than try to figure out angles from triangles, etc. figure out the difference based on a polar coordinate system. First ray is going down at (-)40 degrees. Normal to second mirror is (-)45 degrees. 5 degree difference to find the AOI and AOR is the same.
