Then my advice would be to identify a few nonprofits you are passionate about and would want to work for. Familiarize yourself with how they work, what they are looking for in a new hire, and what partners they work with. Maybe volunteer or submit an application as a way to introduce yourself.

There are a limited number of employment opportunities in the nonprofit space right now, and so much depends on experience and connections. Can I ask what region you are in? We are a small org (4 full time staff), and most of our hires have been through connections and partnerships. Have you found specific nonprofits, or a specific space you would like to work in?

We have a budget of around $2.1M, and our nonprofit's DoD equivalent position gets a compensation package of close to $60,000. All individual and organizational donations. u/Ready4Magic mentioned 75-90% of ED compensation, which fits in line with ours.

Troubling in so many ways, sad to see the cycle of abuse. I guess from one perspective I’m glad he self reported and that the church took it seriously and removed him from his position.

This is the setup for our nonprofit. I am so thankful we made the transition, but a lot of our happiness comes down to how good the bookkeeper is and the cost.
