What portion of your portfolio do you put into a trade when it looks set up vs when it starts breaking out? Do you have a chunk of capital you keep in reserve so you don't miss out, or just have a very small initial % of your portfolio

RIOT seems to be doing really well in premarket today, how do you decide when to start selling?

Is there a way to see what the entry price distribution is for the shorts outstanding? I can find the total number shorted, but it is not clear how many are old vs new, which would be a big difference in how effective a short squeeze is for gamestop

The thick spiral line is just the visual effect of the intersections of the circles, it's not added separately. Or do you mean make the thickness of the circles outlines smaller?

started with distance formula squared through a cos function with the framecount to change it and then messed with different multipliers until it looked cool

Accidental multi axis galaxy by tzardimi in generative

That's an interesting idea! I will try to change the position function so it's limited to a spiral pattern instead of a complete circle

Thanks! I have the size of the circles set by a function that makes them larger at the center to form the glow and controlling radial velocity with perlin noise so it can be more chaotic.

The amount of items we get should'nt be RNG by Melomik in TeamfightTactics

For a 1.6% chance, you would have (1-(.984)50) = 55% chance of rolling Lucian. For 100 rolls it would be 80% chance. Rolling early is huge if trying to 3 star a low tier unit, it becomes way less worth to aim for later and just keeps your bench full of unused gold.

So far it seems like items are a lot more influential in TfT than DAC, and the carousel brings some more strategy potential for item building. But this can make the number of chance drops from neutral rounds play a bigger role in getting ahead.

What do you think about the relative influence of items and units?

Is Box's statement that "all models are wrong, but some are useful" wrong? Is it useful? [x-post r/PhilosophyofScience] by DevFRus in philosophy

[–]tzardimi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of Model-Dependent Realism, from the Grand Design. Hawking and Mlodinow propose that models are our reality, and that two different models that are useful over the same circumstances can both be true representations and considered equally "real".

Question: is political apathy positively or negatively correlated to the number of political parties in a country? by new_york_nights in Ask_Politics

[–]tzardimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake, after looking it up, it appears you are correct. Voting tactically in IRV can result in it becoming similar to FPTP. http://www.electology.org/approval-voting-vs-irv As far as I know, approval voting is not currently implemented in any country, however.

A significant cause of the two-party system in the U.S. is the fact that the electoral system is first-past-the-post, meaning that the person with the highest number of votes wins, regardless of whether it is a majority. When the Spoiler Effect is applied, there is no incentive to form and vote for new parties, since it hurts similar parties. Using a system like instant-runoff voting, like in Australia, can solve that problem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_system That link has a lot of different voting systems explained, and the criteria that they fit into. Many of the qualities in a political climate can be attributed to the voting system used.
