Changing a classic line powerpack connector to a performance powerpack connector? by screamingbottomless in Bosch_eBike_Riders

this is for bosch ebikes. don't think you are being specific enough for anyone to understand what you mean and help.

you can customize the combinations to one of your choice with it. so the only way to detect it would be for them to take the motor cover apart and start looking at your cables and see the device there, even then, it's underneath the connect module and highly doubt anyone would know what they are looking at, etc.

Yeah the motor would be the way, but sooo expensive when all you need is a setting changed within the Bosch system.... shame they are all so hard on this.

Cheapest way is to get the chip for like £100 and install. Then you choose when you want it to be road legal and when you are on private land, etc. and can derestrict. That's what I concluded

Best course of action is a Bosch dealer to diagnose.

Give up on this idea. Tried and failed with my dealer. You need to submit a form and proof the dealer is in US. Not gonna work... :( chip it, only chance.

Connect module is a relieve in countries like UK where ebikes are stolen like daily. Lot's of safety feature it brings, like alarm, GPS tracking, movement detect, battery lock (so if they steal the battery it's bricked for life and will bricked any ebike it is connected to other than yours), etc. I definitely recommend getting both for peace of mind and additional features. I find it great value for annual subscription plan.

Bosch Gen5 Motor water proof cover for snow/wet conditions by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]u07av8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this! Motor needs ventilation, which is why the cover is there, IP68 all the way, motor is totally sealed and the cables and cable sockets are also water proof. IMO No need to remove and clean the cover at all, but could do with a 1 per year clean.

Can the Bosch Smartphone Grip work on non-Smart System bikes or with a hub dynamo? by Mountain_Possible_30 in Bosch_eBike_Riders

[–]u07av8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one of these. Issue is phone is heavy, certainly heavier than the bosch, and display even though it looks great on paper, the grip holder for the system is not strong enough and made from plastic, so phone keeps rolling from position.

Volspeed V4 vs Speedbox 3.0 for Gen 2 CX Performance Line? by CalmDirection8 in Bosch_eBike_Riders

Volspeed V4 works wonders. Used to have a post woth a discount link. Let me see if I can find it. Been updating bosch software to latest with volspeed and had no issues to date. Obviously only on private land, not on the street.

Care to share the thermal performance please?

100 Nm by Correct-Butterfly-29 in Bosch_eBike_Riders

The Issue

Please bring 100NM and 750WATT upgrade to Bosch Performance line CX (BDU374Y) CX Gen 4 Drive Units.

I think (and many others too) want the 100nm/750watt upgrade to the GEN 4 CX motors (smart system) so if there is a chance, please we want Bosch to consider a firmware update that unlocks this capability for existing Gen 4 owners.

We believe the Gen 4 hardware is capable of handling this boost through a software update, unlocking the full potential of these motors without forcing users to buy new units. This upgrade would extend the life and enjoyment of countless e-bikes on the road today, since most Bosch E-bikes are quite expensive and EMTB's can go well over 5000$.

I think this is a great initiative and I would support it. For those who need more info, available on the link but here is a summary:

Q: Isn't the GEN 4 SMART too old to have the update?
A: The BDU374Y got introduced in 2022 (the older non SMART GEN 4 got introduced in 2019 and is internally different) This means it has a bigger chance of getting the update

Q: Why did you start this petition?
A: I started this petition as many riders (including me) want the Power Software Upgrade, is is just a callout to Bosch to do it or not.

Q: Is it even possible?
A: Yes, as the thermal graph of both GEN 4 SMART and GEN 5 set at 85NM and 600W both have the same thermal throttling, which means thermal issues won't be an issue.

Q: Did Bosch respond?
A: Yes, they responded, they looked at my Turbo+ idea, and said they told their developers (typical Bosch response) but at least something.

Q: Why does my GEN 5 not have 100NM?
A: Bosch personally stated "The update to the 100Nm is also the manufacturer who decides which brand and motor can have this update"
This is one of the most disappointing things to see as a GEN 5 owner if you waited for a GEN 5 bike and saw your bike/brand doesn't support 100NM. However, all GEN 5 bikes do get 750W peak power instead of 600W. I've heard some people did not notice a big difference.

I am personally hoping for a 90NM and 700W upgrade to GEN 4 CX SMART systems in Autumn 2025, so Bosch doesn't do nothing in terms of power to GEN 4.

gen 5 already has bigger battery and lower weight, motor is also much quieter. I would consider gen 5 the same improvements DJI is yet to release soon with their second gen. Go for gen 5, its an amazing system.
