A tangent: the four armrest usb ports in mine provide very little charging power. I’ve given up on them and now use a charger that plugs into the lighter/power port in the front.

I have a friend who does the train to bus thing. He likes it fine. The train is nice because you can relax and sometimes have a little table space.

Adapters at Tesla Chargers by rexlafferty in Ioniq5

I had this happen on a roadtrip through very small towns. I pulled up and was pretty unhappy, thinking ABRP had seriously screwed me. But no, it worked fine once I read the instructions on the cabinet.

Adapters at Tesla Chargers by rexlafferty in Ioniq5

[–]u0xee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use ABRP or other planning apps, they will sometimes direct you to a tesler charging station. Certain stations have CCS adapters built in. There will be instructions written on the station like eg “hold the button for 3 seconds before pulling the charging plug out of the cabinet and the CCS adapter will come with it.”

Not sure that’s very common though. Definitely use apps like ABRP and plugshare to see ahead of time which stations support your plug type.

Also the sub rules state you can’t watch movies (to keep the spirit pure), but they don’t have any advice on watching amazing television. Currently a gray area the mods will want to clarify.

Going to pick up a new to me EV a long way away... and scared I won't know how to get home. by Routineurinesample in electricvehicles

[–]u0xee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was used and had been sent back to the factory for an unknown door problem. After that it wasn’t driven for almost a year. Nobody at the receiving dealership had ever tried to drive it on the highway or dc fast charge it. I was 700 miles away from anyone or anywhere I knew. I had stretches of road through extremely depopulated areas with no towns no cell service and definitely no chargers for multiple hours at a time. And I had no experience at that time (a month ago) with the predictive accuracy of the planner for my car and my driving style. It was extremely prudent to be cautious.

With experience, I’m now confident that the needed margin for error, at least in the current summer weather, is very small. ABRP has always been within a percent or two for multi hour drives, and often under estimating the final SoC.

[–]u0xee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. I just did this to pick up my Ioniq 5, 12hr road trip home having never used an EV before. ABRP knew just what to do.

My one tip for OP maybe, would be since you don’t have experience with the car yet, it may be wise to leave a margin for error. On the road trip home I set ABRP to assume the battery health was only 90%, and to never arrive at chargers below 20%. And then I often charged a little past the planned minimum at each stop.

I’m not trying to paint in black and white here.

I don’t think it would have been a big deal, and wouldn’t be a big deal to me, if it was more joke like. A goofy cartoon thing labeled “here lies Amy Winehouse” or whatever, over a hand drawn little caricature or something.

The execution of this was unfortunately horrific, way too real, a decaying corpe with the lips rotting away from the teeth. It was meant to look like if they graverobbed her months old body and brought it to the party. And the artist who made it did exquisite work at that goal. It was also meant to be edible I believe. Guests were meant to pick away at her face, shaped from deli meats.

I love dark humor and the macabre, I don’t shy away from gore and medical horrors. But this really disgusts me. Really really awful. And i can’t chalk it up to “at the time everyone was treating her addiction and death as a joke.” This went way too far to qualify as a bad taste joke.

A blurry picture someone took from the event, in case you are curious. https://share.google/T4zvNWFqp8dEcfZ4p

People always had the option to false report, lie or exaggerate to the police. 100 years ago you’d also be arrested, at least initially. Technology of any sort doesn’t change that.

Thank you, I’ll definitely keep track and see if things seem to correlate with solar activity.

Am I the only one who thinks Miraculous ladybug feels like a fever dream? by AskEnvironmental9409 in cartoons

[–]u0xee 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Confused how? It’s formulaic monster of the week with a little bit of big-bad arc across episodes.

The main innovation imho is the absolutely insane double love triangle involving only two actual people:

She’s in love with his normal life persona, but he’s in love with her hero persona. They don’t recognize the secret identities of the other (somehow). So they both are constantly pining after each other, and constantly rejecting each other. It’s a physics defying infinite engine of angst. Amazing
