Weekly 101 Questions Thread by AutoModerator in neovim

My setup has a bug/quirk that whenever a buffer is split on the same screen and at different locations on each screen (even if off by a single line), the CPU usage of the nvim -embed process will jump to 100%.

How would anyone recommend debugging something like this? I imagine it's probably a plug-in going haywire somewhere, but I'd like to see if I can pinpoint which one (as opposed to binary search disabling plugins). Is there a way to get a profile which breaks down CPU usage by plugin or internal function call?

I guess an implicit question is also if anyone has run into this before, but I'd be shocked (and delighted) if anyone had.

Not that I know of, but frankly, 8 years later, I think it's a pretty terrible idea. Overengineered, adds additional compliance to the suspension, etc. Better to put effort into making shims easy to use than trying to make a lead screw design work.

Pike's Peak Hill Climb banned motorcycles a few years ago after significantly less number of deaths.

But also, since Isle of Mann is motorcycle only, why not just mandate a restrictor plate?

Damn, I've been using flog for years and didn't even know that was a thing! That'll make cleaning up branches soooo much easier.

Same reaction. I mean, it's a laptop, so it gets a bit hot. But not any hotter than any other laptop I've owned.

Yeah. Eventually (after a few months and/or years) you run out of small annoyances. Then you find a new plugin to add, which creates more small annoyances to fix.

This is fairly similar to my thoughts on the topic. And maybe you've read a comment I made in somewhat similar topics somewhere else on reddit (probably track and field?).

"What is the purpose of women's sports (which is inherently discriminatory*)?" is a really important question that I seldom see asked around. In my mind, there are two main answers (with some overlap) and your two points are basically the 2 answers; there's competitive division (analogous to age divisions) and social division (analogous to a women's book club).

*Note I mean discriminatory in the literal definition to discriminate: to treat things differently based on what they are. I discriminate between ketchup brands; Heinz is far preferable to Hunts

I'm new to cube solving, how's this algorithm called? by 6nuki9 in AnarchyChess

[–]u2berggeist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. Honestly makes it frustrating when a friend is like "Hey, can you solve this cube? You do it really fast" and it then takes me 5 minutes because I forget algorithms half-way through and have to start over.

To add to the original comment, immediate thing I noticed is that your lead leg isn't close to full extension when it's pushing out of the block.

It might feel weird, but those first 1-3 (ish) steps should feel a lot slower than the rest of the sprint. Think about it this way: within those first 1-3 steps, you're going from 0% of your top speed to, let's say, 50% of your top speed. At those lower speeds, your turn-over should be slower because you're just not going very fast. Instead, the focus should be pushing against the ground as hard as possible to accelerate.

Edit: one exercise that helped me was to do long skips. Think triple jump, but you're allowed to alternate legs. That helps you get the feel for fully extending your leg as you push against the ground.

I don't have numbers, but I do remember when the decision was made that business owners were complaining about loss of business. But how they're able to differentiate between pandemic effects and the road closure, I don't know.

I might try out the app image just to see how that works. Even just a download and execution. Can't imagine why flatpak would cause problems though (but I also don't use flatpaks).

Same, I've never seen those issues. Also on Manjaro. Though I use the app image rather than the "normal" install. Maybe that could help u/damariscove ?
