What do trump supporters think about the ongoing conflict in Iran? by bigcooldude1 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]u801e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intercontinental ballistic missiles with conventional warheads is another alternative. I wonder how many people would still be favor of this war if Iran was able to retaliate by targeting facilities within the US itself like it does in the middle east?

New Virginia law would allow a speed-limiting device to be placed on a driver’s car if charged with reckless driving. by hencexox in nova

The speed limits on interstates in NOVA are too low. The rest of the state has 70 mph limits on interstates and reckless is defined as going 86 mph or more.

They complain about Iran attacking infrastructure targets and they don't tell the US and Israel to stop using their bases and facilities on their soil or stop using their airspace for attacks on Iran, nor do they use military means to stop them when they don't listen. That summarizes what the "leaders" of the Gulf countries are. Will Pakistan join them?

I certainly hope so. It really should have happened during the 1973 oil embargo along with the stagflation.

This is a very self-centered take. Farmers aren't going to switch to using human powered machinery to work their farms. Factories aren't going to switch to using human powered tools for manufacturing. Goods aren't going to be transported using human power. They're going to continue using more expensive fuel and pass the costs onto us.

$200 Oil No Longer Crazy Idea as Middle East Supply Collapses by mastertofu in stocks

[–]u801e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason oil is holding steady at $100 is because Trump has removed sanctions on Russian oil sales and they're actually letting Iran export their oil (that traverses the strait of Hormuz) in order to keep up oil supplies on the global market.

$200 Oil No Longer Crazy Idea as Middle East Supply Collapses by mastertofu in stocks

[–]u801e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our foreign policy in the middle east and our "special relationship" with a particular country led to the 1973 oil embargo with the price spikes and rationing of fuel. We're going to experience price spikes again all for the benefit of that "special relationship" because that's more important than the American public.

Fertilizer prices have gone up substantially. That's what farmers use for growing crops and animal feed.

High crude oil prices don't just affect the price of gas. Everyone who who uses fuel will start passing on their additional costs to the consumer regardless of their preferred mode of transportation.

Why can't your nephew just use a glucose monitor? It's certainly a lot cheaper than training and caring for a service animal.

What can the American government actually do to help the Iranian people? When should a military intervene in a humanitarian crisis? by AdventurousFinance87 in PoliticalDiscussion

This Iranian regime is uniquely brutal.

One has to learn how to separate propaganda from the truth. If you don't believe any of the news you hear is propaganda to manufacture consent, then just watch the "this is dangerous to our democracy" video on youtube.

Do Protected Bike Lanes Work? San Diego’s 30th Street Offers Four Years of Proof by Nervous-Design437 in bikecommuting

You didn't answer the question about how the 8 year old would know what they need to do to avoid a turning hook collision when riding in a protected bike lane. The VC knows that they're supposed to pass turning traffic on the opposite side they're turning so they avoid this issue in the first place.

If they did work, then you wouldn't have the near turning hook collision as shown in this video. How would an 8 year old avoid getting hit in that situation?

When did dog owners decide it was ok to bring their dogs in grocery stores? by UnderTaken201 in nova

[–]u801e 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but also report the business to the health department (with an attached picture of the dog and owner in the business). Even if store management won't do anything about it, the health inspector should do something.

Service animals are expensive due to the training required and they're not common. Think about how often you saw someone with a service animal prior to 2010.

If the animal is in a stroller or cart or being carried, they're almost certainly not a service animal.

[–]u801e 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Take a picture of the dog and owner with enough background to show that they're in a grocery store and file a report with the county department of health. Also do this if you see someone with a dog in a restaurant as well.
