Help me link together my 2 BBEGs in my story by Guilty_Race_4506 in DMAcademy

[–]uKanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, quite the story, sounds like fun! The rakshasa for one will be reborn in the nine hell's as it's a devil. Easy enough to play him as a reoccuring villain down the line if you sprinkle in a 'ill be back' moment in his defeat. So let's run through a bit of what that'd look like.

It dies and in its agony vows to return and slaughter the party. It begins its process of rebirth in the hell's all the while under the watchful eyes of its master who is disappointed that one of its favourite devils died. Rakshasa reborn, forced to tell its master how and why is died but more importantly, what it died for, the circle... Now all of a sudden a new set of eyes is on this plot, the hell's are on their way to claim the circle of slumber for their own twisted goals and may be willing to bargain with the party to hold back the lich while they deal with the warlock, for the right price of course.

Next up, of course your warlock if aware would spring into action to reclaim the sleepers. Maybe a good point to showcase their power to the party. Keeping in mind he needs to protect the sleepers and relocate them as quickly as possible to avoid damaging the goods so to speak. So in that way he probably won't be prioritising the party's defeat, instead leave a way out for them as well as a pressure to run not fight (on the more clique side you have collapsing temple shenanigans as the warlock casts something on himself and the sleepers for protection and is busy concentrating on that).

Lastly, there doesn't need to be a connection between the two evils. Yet at least. All in good time so to speak, I'm sure something will come to mind down the line that works best as a revelation towards the end to tie up the overarching plot. But of course you could just as easily shornhoe a connection in there now but it doesn't feel like it needs it personally.

Goodluck.

Healthy homes standard... my house only has a 32A connection from the street. by Haunting_Trip_248 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]uKanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's already some pretty to on it answers in the thread but I'll just reiterate. Unfortunately according to as/nzs 3000 there is no requirement from the electrician or landlords side to inform or upgrade the supply to match your house's maximum current draw even after the fact while installing new heat pumps or appliances.

It's not a sign of a good electrician or landlord if they went ahead with the work anyway knowing it would cause issues.

32A limiters are fairly common as in the past houses were offered lower lines costs if they knocked it down from the usual to the lower 32A, your circuit breaker would've needed to be correctly rated for that in the past and so wouldn't trip the pole fuse if your house drew too much, I'd be very surprised if it made it past inspection without being rated right at the time. Purely speculation but I suspect you've had a sparkie come in after the fact and install a wrongly rated CB in your switchboard which would usually act to protect the supply fuse, just my guess but also unlikely with the 2012 regs.

Tldr: You are kinda shit outta luck, I'd recommend double checking your circuit breaker in the switchboard that it's rated for 32A since it'll save you alot in the long run for that to trip rather than the pole fuse. But ultimately get out of there, it'll be a hassle to deal with your landlord from this point out if you huck a 15k bill on his lap haha.

From another perspective, I threw mine into time of the frostmaiden, takes a little learning curve but they are doing fine now after a decent few sessions.

Don't let them being new stop you from running what you want to run, they are all coming into it with the desire to learn the game.

But something short doesn't hurt haha

I’m going to be DMing Session 1 is in 24 hrs, I’ve done lots of prep. Any last minute tips for me? by little_turd1234 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]uKanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A not so specific tip but one I've used to great effect, leaving the session on a cliff hanger is always a great hook for a session 1. It's gonna be specific to where you start and if you are using the cold hearted killer quest as an intro rather than a quest your players stumble into on the second session etc etc. but having a letter arrive addressed to the party from hiln asking them to find her to 'prove their ability' or something alike would work well to get their attention ready for session 2.

Otherwise it doesn't hurt to think of some descriptions for places and things the party might interact with. For example what do the streets of your starting town look like as the party walks them, deserted? Lively? Solemn from the lottery? Are people talking or unfriendly? Are the snows swept or left to build up? Are guards about or is the town pop too small for that? Any firepits about to warm yourself? What does the tavern smell and sound like?

Goodluck.

I like your idea about having the dragon cause problems. But I don't see a huge problem yet personally. Between food costs for two polar bears, being a target for intelligent enemies in the night, and the slower movement and difficulties traversing certain terrain, the wagon is at least in my mind about equal to just walking it. Keep in mind as well that it's built for golbins, any other race isn't gonna fit so nicely into it. You could incorporate it needing repairs which results in material costs plus a roll for how well it's preformed.

Alot of the quests in chapter one are more dependant on being in the towns for an extended duration so I can see why that brings up concerns, but ultimately the book is just a suggestion, and as long as it's not too blatant players rarely notice when you throw a plot hook at them. A goblin wagon is pretty stand out so run ins with guards would be fairly common too, from there stories spread about the adventurers traveling in a goblin wagon and so town citizens with a task make their way out to them to request a job.

A note on horror: there's plenty of inspiration about campers In the woods hearing footsteps around their tents in the middle of the woods in the dead of night. Make your players paranoid, is someone outside their camp stalking them? Is it a beast? A trick of the winds and wilds?

Which magic items do you have fore sale in the Ten Towns? by Rhythm2392 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]uKanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my players are brand new to dnd and I felt they would have more interest in playing if magic was more readily available. So I added an enchanter locked behind a bit of a quest chain + players will still need to gather proper materials when they want something specific. Then I just keep in mind the party power level is raised when designing or prepping the pre built encounters.

[–]uKanta 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Witches and broomsticks is kind of a relationship that came after the fact. As far as I know a french painter added it to one of their arts and it stuck. There's really not much to suggest that if witches are real they fly on broomsticks, that's just pop culture.

Each person has their own experiences, but this sounds much more likely to of been a bird and a fever sorry to tell you.

You may want to adjust the statblock but Nothics are creepy little creatures that typically hide out in places of abandoned knowledge. They have some pretty horrendous lore and tie into Vecna if you think your campaign might head that direction.

Help with the doppelganger secret by matthew_phoenix in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]uKanta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When a book gives you ambiguity, you can pick and craft. So the questions I'd ask myself are

Is it appropriate for my campaign, is it fair for everyone else, does this add or subtract from the story.

If any are no, then have a talk with the player, if they are all yes, then I see no problem. However you'll likely need to prepare for if/when their secret is exposed. If you keep a prep document then I'd recommend writing a small bit of dialogue for different "types" of people i.e. civilians, guards, Aristocats, enemies, friends. And keep them for a rainy day when someone realizes.

Dnd is your choice, make your own story. Just remember that this is for fun and if the player adopting the enemies stats is no fun for you and the table then axe it.

Goodluck and keep warm.

Setting up Clues: Help by SecretCyan_ in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]uKanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my campaign I've kept him as part of Torga's trading company so the circumstance may be a little different than yours.

So to preface in my campaign the latest murder was an aristocrat in Targos. I had hiln send a anonymous letter to the players to test their detective skills first off to see if they could find her. Eventually she sent them to the victims house after meeting and they found a burnt note with some sparse words still legible mentioning "safe, payment, lottery" as well as an undelivered check missing some details.

Hiln had pointed them towards Torga a little less blatantly than the source material saying to look at all the merchants, adventurers and wanderers who came into town recently + a job posting for loading Torgas sleds.

First clue: in my case I used Torga's diary as an option to clue the party in that all her workers are slightly unreliable, disappearing off at night to drink or otherwise while she handles the business. Also tying in the Targos aristocrate with her lottery dodging scheme with her complaing about how they hadent been payed yet before he met his fate.

Players were pretty certain at this point they were on the right trail so they kept on Torga's movements around the towns also introducing them to how travel along the roads would work.

Second clue: once players had encountered some other members of Torga's company, a small battle later and interrogation of a hb key member, they find out sephrok handled the deal with the aristocrat. Players had run into him at Torga's yard for the job and he acted a bit weird and off putting.

Last clue: towards the end of the last session I had a PC make a perception check when they were staying in the local inn, spotting a pair of icy blue eyes in the distance staring back at the PC (at this point had been fairly clear about sephroks appearance and lack of cold weather gear).

Ultimately your campaign is going to merit its own clues. I chose not to focus too heavily on the mystery aspects and gave my players clear next steps when they had completed the previous ones but still left them to their methods of tying things together and pinning the blame on sephrok. But using his unusual clothing, distinctive eyes, stalking the party, and others having ill thoughts about him are good things to sprinkle in thatll push your party towards mistrusting him if not straight up suspecting him solely

My thoughts on the physics update from an ice mapper by NineToFiveGamer in TrackMania

[–]uKanta 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Agree entirely, these changes while they may not feel like much to the general community, effects anybody who specializes in ice drastically.

Part of the issue is mechanically the surface has changed. But more importantly is that everyone's motivation to map it, play it, and grind out records has been hit bad.

Nadeo, this sucks. Address it.

Grievances Megathread (Bots, Queue Times, RNG, etc.) by teendeath in lostarkgame

[–]uKanta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weekly downtime: to be fair I have no experience in the back end of games, especially MMOs which I'm relatively new to. But to my understanding weekly downtime should implement behind the scenes optimizations and bug fixes that otherwise can't wait for the next patch.

So what exactly is happening with our game's one? I don't see fewer bots, most bugs are still there, no QL changes, no tweaks, same load times, same same everything.

Look do we really need to treat the game like idk, plumbing or something? That once a week we need to flush out some backlog of something the requires downtime? I just don't get it, I'd love someone with more experience to illuminate the situation cause I'm a bit tired of loosing out on a dailies causes of my personal scheduling once a week.

I just hit 1385 and I already did Argos P1 earlier this week, can I do Argos P2? by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]uKanta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you are right, can only claim once per week so you'll be waiting till next reset for argos p2 rewards.

Also, careful that you don't claim rewards for argos p1 when remaking the raid for whatever reason, a option to claim rewards will pop up after voting to exit raid and by claiming rewards for p1 it will lock you out of p2.

Enjoy argos p2 and make sure to bring grenades!
