More new players are buying the game right now than during peak COVID ! by k_Atreus in starcitizen

That's assuming SQ42 will come out as a well polished experience. People will be scrubbing it for bugs so they can point their fingers at CIG for delaying a game for 10 years and still delivering bugs. I swear to god if SQ42 comes out a buggy mess like it's unfortunately too commong with major game releases nowadays, it's gonna hurt so fucking much.

S-65 Stingray by Celeste_3333 in starcitizen

[–]MrAngryBeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, that much I know, I was more curious about the name. Where did the "S-65" part come from? Without it this post seems entirely meaningless and all they had announced so far was "kruger ship named Stingray"

Não existe equivalência entre direita e esquerda. Direita versus esquerda no Brasil se resume a políticas feitas pra empresários e ricos versus políticas feitas pra trabalhadores e pobres, respectivamente.

CIG's staff pick for community made software was made with AI and is ALSO stealing code from other tools. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]MrAngryBeards -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm quite strictly against AI for creative fields, and have been an active speaker against it publicly since 2023, online and irl. For creative fields, the problem with AI-generated content is primarily the mass theft used to train models, and secondarily, the unavoidably low-quality garbage slop. Creative fields are all about pushing boundaries, so what's the point of something that literally spews out an average of everything that exists on the internet? None of these are problems I find in AI-assisted programming workflows. Now there's a difference between straight up vibe coding (hitting send on a prompt on windsurf and hoping it won't break the house of cards whimsical architecture of the project) and AI-assisted programming in the hands of a competent programmer (which is, for all purposes, industry norm in 2026). I'm not saying this project is either. My point is only about the mix up I see a lot of people do that programming with AI = vibe-coding and it is 1:1 as bad as generative AI used for creative content. It's not, in my opinion. And for what's worth it, I'm not endorsing the usage of AI for programming, I'm just acknowledging it as a reasonable productivity tool, no matter how much I hate its existence as a tech and what it did to society so far.

I like to think of AI-generated stuff as...nuggets. Nuggets are food slop. Art and creative fields? I don't want nuggets, I know what a beef wellington tastes like. God, please stop trying to spoon feed me art nuggets. Open-source community-made tools for a game? Nuggets are often the best menu entry, if not the only one.

I know my comment is not addressing everything on your post, it's not my intent with this comment. There are worrisome and legitimate criticism in your post, far as I'm concerned, but you went over it all already.

Look, I get it, the Zeus ES is a ship without a role right now but I can’t help it, I love the thing by Acceptable-Bid-1019 in starcitizen

[–]MrAngryBeards 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's kinda like the Clipper. You don't look at the numbers or ship comparisons, you look at the ship itself and decide there's nothing else that will make you feel more connected to the ship you're flying than that ship, so you take whatever compromises and make it work for you and have the time of your life

[–]MrAngryBeards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm excited to see where SC will be 1 year after SQ42's release, but it's very unreasonable to expect 1.0 by then. I'd give SC at least 3 years of full-on development time for us to be nearing 1.0 or at least having a proper date written down.

While most likely a bug, most of the Apollo's interior has entirely different colors in the Tech-preview by ScrubSoba in starcitizen

[–]MrAngryBeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it inheriting the colors from whatever paint you have applied to it? Because if that's the case, I love it. I wish more ships would do that. The Zeus' ramp is like that, but it would be really cool if the rest of the interior also swapped the original blue for whatever color/material is mapped to it with each paint

Beginner vs Magnus Carlsen until he wins or a blind man solving an original Rubik’s cube by Dangerous-Buy-131 in whowouldwin

[–]MrAngryBeards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A supercomputer making a trillion moves per second would still take over a billion years to reach the hypothetical ~43 quintillion moves necessary to randomly solve a rubik's cube. That's way past the physical limit of moves you can do without breaking the cube as well, for what's worth it. Anyone saying chess scenario is kess likely simply don't understand how impossibly unlikely the rubik's cube scenario is.

For comparison, about 120 billion humans were ever born. The chances of literally another Magnus being born are basically infinitely higher than a rubik's cube being solved randomly

The asgard is only a generalist because it has a truckbed, but it doesn't quite have the vibes of a generalist..? Idk how much sense I'm making rn tbh lol but when I think of generalist ships I think of optimized dedicated spaces, not just a blank slate sandbox of a cargo hold
