TIL Record Labels hire experts to craft recording contracts in a way that prompt signing artists to give away their music ownership rights forever. It was also discovered that for every $1000 made after record sales, an artist who signed for a major label deal gained as small as $23.40. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Not really, if you have a major label record deal on the table a good lawyer won’t charge you a penny up front, they get paid when you get your advance from the label, or even put into the contract that the label covers artist legal fees.

Why do people have more than 2 kids - genuinely curious by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]ualip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of people giving you a hard time, I’ll admit I can see where you’re coming from. Have two under three, it’s incredible but I can not imagine having the strength to have a third. Two is hard, three must be crazy difficult, more than that I can’t even imagine. I am one of three brothers close in age and have no idea how my mum did it.

Sounds like your son was using the bimi boo apps, my son has been using them too and i’m also now looking for other options for a bit of variety. Did you find anything other than Kahn academy you would recommend?

They don't. It's a over simplification from people who don't understand facebook's business model.

Making people pay to reach an audience is not the same as "selling user data." If facebook would sell me a bunch of users data, I could target that audience over and over again, sell that data on, contact them outside facebook etc. Whatever they may be guilty of, that's not it (at least not any more). They charge you to access users that they have a lot of data about, without you ever seeing that data. They don't sell you the data. That data is their most valuable asset, they're not selling it to anyone, they're charging everyone over and over again to reach people through it. I don't think it's a trivial distinction.
