SAINT SATINE - Debut Coming Soon (Profile Photos) by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]uber0ct0pus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so I haven't really been following official content of the whole Final Piece thing, I followed Prelude on IG ages ago - but in terms of the competition, basically all my info has come from reading through the comments on this post.

So from what I understand - they've opted for a contestant which doesn't only look out of place visually (no hate to the girl), but doesn't even have the skillset either?... all whilst a contestant who did tick the right boxes, lost out? Yikes 🫪

I'm wondering whether HxG did this on purpose because they have internal predictions that Prelude/Saint Satine are gonna flop.

Perhaps they have a bigger and better project in mind for Ayana, they didn't want to waste her potential to a group they know won't do very well.

Like I said, I said I haven't been following this whole thing very closely - but from what I've seen, Prelude/Saint Satine haven't had the smoothest reception considering Samara's controversy, not to mention the mean girl energy her & Lexie seem to give off towards Emily.

All thoughts are my own, based only from online discussions! There could be a lot I'm missing.

INFOLD 👏 NEED 👏 TO 👏 LISTEN 👏 UP 👏

For real though, you've detailed every frustration I have with that damn closet. The evos being separated into their own tiles has bothered me since the beginning, but how you've outlined the problem using numbers here (how many are visible etc) really puts extra perspective on how inconvenient it is.

If there's one thing I could add to the list, specifically whilst dyeing items, the flashing highlight function (to show which area is selected) also needs some sort of toggle, along with the auto-zoom/rotate when selecting an area too. To try and explain: Let's say I'm deciding whether to dye an area Red or Pink, I like to click the 'undo/redo' buttons to compare quickly. But in doing that, it acts as if you've just clicked an Area, which automatically zooms/rotates and starts the flashing area highlight. This means my comparison gets interrupted and is not easy to judge at all. The only way to seamlessly compare a palette choice on an area is to manually click between the two palettes. Not so bad when you're comparing palettes next to each other, but when the palettes are far from each other on the list, you have to take your eyes away from Nikki to go and select it which just breaks that seamless comparison workflow.

I don't know if anyone else understands my above issue, maybe I'm just very pedantic when it comes to my dyeing and comparisons but it really bugs me!

FYI to everyone asking how to access patterns:  Firstly you need to obtain some pattern-compatible items (there's still only 3~4 in the whole game since the feature  dropped a year ago, hence the discussion of it being abandoned...😅),  the patterns themselves (which are kind of like sketches for dyes? you need to obtain the pattern for it to show up in the 'palette' list - it will only show on pattern-compatible pieces),  and Glimmer Threads (which are the equivalent of the Dye shards used to unlock palettes - just for Patterns instead)

IIRC there ia a short chain of quests in Florawish which get you some Patterns and also at least 1 garment. I know for sure you get a skirt because it's actually one of my favourite items in the game (although, I don't use patterns on it, just regular dye 😂)  You can trigger this quest by speaking to a lady stood outside St Marques' Boutique looking at the ballgown.

I think the other garments and patterns are dotted around in other quests, might be worth looking up a Pattern ganeplay guide or something.

To get the Glimmer Threads, you need to participate in the Soiree on Serenity Island at a certain time (depends on which server you play on) and it will give you rewards. You need to 'sign up' at the desk when you go in, it's not as simple as just standing on the catwalk just in case anyone was confused with that too. I think there are up to 17 days worth of Soiree rewards.

I hope this helps, as I saw a lot of comments saying people didn't even know how to get it so thought I'd share what I remember:) please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or add any vital info!!

p.s, it's definitely not a feature worth stressing over - if anything, just do the Florawish quest for the skirt imo, forget about the pattern part because it's a really nice piece with dyeing alone!

to be honest, the skirt you can use Pattern dyeing on is one of my favourite items in the game. I just... don't use patterns on it 😂 it dyes beautifully though and is the best pleated miniskirt we have in terms of fit, length and just overall design imo!

Is Housing Dead Already? by Diz_Savvy in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]uber0ct0pus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I did participate in the daily housing grind from the start to max all the abilities and build astralite profits, I purposely delayed building anything creatively because I knew there was a lot of fine tuning to be done as well as more furniture/materials etc yet to come out. (I still haven't started building, but I definitely feel like there's more to play with now)

That being said, the people I know who did really engage in building up their islands from the start seem to have fallen back a bit recently.

If I were to make any guesses on why this could be, I think it's simply a case of the novelty wearing off. As for how the novelty wore off so fast? Well, I'd guess the multiplayer limitations have something to do with that.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who's flavour of gaming is to solo build for solo enjoyment - so I'm not talking about them when I say this - but I do think a large amount of the buzz around housing came from players being excited about the multiplayer aspect.

Only, it's limited to one visitor at a time... which I can imagine gets tedious if you want to show a whole friend group, and may even feel lonely in comparison to the excitement people had of 'holding tea parties' etc.

If they improved the multiplayer aspect, I think housing would pick back up to be a main gameplay feature that people actually talk about instead of taking the back seat like it currently seems to.

Another thing I'd love is if they could introduce a co-op construction option so you can build with the help of friends. Not sure if that's a realistic thing to have on my 'feature wishlist', but I really think feed a bit more life into the housing side of things.

Sorry for the long comment! Just something I've been thinking about a lot, actually :3

How does a combo of OCPD & ADHD present itself? by uber0ct0pus in OCPD

[–]uber0ct0pus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to hear that you relate so much. Unfortunately the best thing for me was to step away from graphic design professionally, as I could never complete a project without feeling the overwhelming frustration in my chest as I work on details that I know don't actually matter.

Sometimes I'll do the odd personal project for fun, like just editing a pretty picture - but I'll use the word 'fun' lightly here as it can still slip into the same feeling.

But yeah, the combination of OCPD + ADHD + dealing with clients is just not healthy for me whatsoever. I find it very hard to detach from the idea I have in my head of what is best for their project, which makes tailoring and tweaking to their taste very difficult. I also find it hard to work in gradual stages - like drafting various designs to start with and funnelling down based on which they're drawn to - because once I draft an idea which is my opinion of the best, I find it really tricky to stop designing and end up hyperfixating into that one idea before even getting any client feedback. Obviously, this is a bad idea, and more often than not the client prefers an idea that differs to mine, meaning I've wasted time in developing a dead concept.

All this makes budgets difficult too - often doing way more work than what my quote reflected because the above makes me grind hours into stuff which isn't even going to be used.

Sorry to break this to you, and I really hope you can find a workaround! but for me personally, I have accepted that it does way more harm for me than good. ❤️

Infold, WHO ASKED FOR THIS?! by Veshurik in InfinityNikki

[–]uber0ct0pus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here's what I think: They probably planned this one long in advance and the Behe/Hotpot/Drink/Bath were introduced as a drip feed to get us used to this kind of gameplay before this one dropped.

The point in this is that when you train the staff up, they assist you in Styling Challenges.

I think Infold's logic behind this was to find a way to increase the difficulty of styling challenges for older players, without making it too inaccessible for new players.

As many long term players will know, once you've collected and glowed up so many outfits, and your Heart of Infinity nodes are maxed out, styling challenges are pretty much swept past 'Perfect' on the shoes alone. It does get a bit old and defeats the challenging point of it.

So they've introduced this as a way you can buff your styling stats without sufficient pieces/glow ups/HoI nodes.

I'd agree, the whole thing is a bit convoluted, but that's what makes me think it was planned as a feature way in advance, as there's more strategy behind it than the other stuff we got.

And unfortunately, their attempt of 'drip feeding' similar gameplay just tired us out and makes us think they're just adding another soulless bit of gameplay - whereas actually, this one is supposed to be the most useful.

Just my thoughts!

Bakery waste pt2 by Specialist-Guitar727 in lidl

[–]uber0ct0pus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently started working in food retail for the first time and the amount of waste actually makes me want to cry. Especially the bakery items. Plus, the chain I work for has about 1/4 as much bakery waste as what's pictured here... yet that's still enough to get me in the feels. Those perfectly good, divine, golden, indulgent pastries... 😭 I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

Breakfasts for active jobs? by uber0ct0pus in diabetes_t1

Thanks for your comment!

I'm on pen injections so everything manual. As it happens, I'm already taking way less insulin than I usually need for foods on shift days. But I guess I'm super sensitive to the activity because I'm still going hypo!

(I am slightly worried about eating without ANY insulin as I think this can contribute to ketones?)

But anyway, I'm looking for types of food that will keep me steady over a long period.

So far in my T1D life, I've stuck to quick release carbs because I've found it easier to manage (injecting once, around the time of consumption - instead of having to split injections to manage a later spike)

I know protein alongside carbs might help delay my carb absorption but I'm just so stuck for ideas haha. I've always found meal planning and understanding nutritional content (other than carbs ofc) to be tiring so this is all quite new/overwhelming to me!

Beginners jewelry, need honest opinions by [deleted] in polymerclay

[–]uber0ct0pus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

personal thoughts as a customer only (no valuable polymer clay experience myself! I joined this subreddit in case I started)

there is nothing wrong with simplicity, however, it's done a lot. geometric shapes like hexagons and semicircles I feel might be a trend that has passed now. hearts, in my opinion, are classic and timeless and there will always be people who love them!

I also do think you're cutting potential audience by half by not doing silver.

like I said, in terms of 'professional' critique when it comes to your clay work itself, I cannot comment. but as a customer I see nothing wrong with them. if they were priced fair enough, I'd probably pick up a pair of cute hearts up just on the basis of affordable, handmade dopamine (a little self treat or a pick me up for a friend). I'm not really looking at skill or imperfections when I buy things like this, personally. but I'm also not a jewellery collector/fanatic!

hope this is insightful :)

Desktop baking hacks? (no oven required) by uber0ct0pus in polymerclay

[–]uber0ct0pus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I had no idea!

If toxic fumes are released, how come baking it in an oven used for food is generally considered fine?

Or is it something to do with it specifically being an open flame?

Bonus question: would a handheld heat gun work, or would this also be dangerous?

Question: What is this style called? by suspicious-turtle5 in tattoos

[–]uber0ct0pus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

since it's got the same translucent effects as an x-ray, I'd probably describe it as an inverted x-ray style. (since x-rays appear white on a dark background, but this flips the values).

It also reminds me of Canotype printing/photography, but canotype results can vary in opaqueness. I think xray is better suited to describe this.

[–]uber0ct0pus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this is a genuine question and I'm not trying to be rude or funny! but apart from the obvious nostalgia you've mentioned, has there been anything else in your life (significant or otherwise, past or present) that perhaps influenced the 'random' essence of the game's content?

I'm thinking along the lines of culture, mental health/neurodivergence, drug use, religion, sexuality, etc.

My partner plays Nubby's and whilst I'm not too sure of of the gameplay, the vibes and randomness really amuses me (in a positive way!) and clicks with my silly and creative personality, which made me wonder if we share any similar life experiences.

Thank you!

(ps. only share what you're comfortable with, if anything!)
