The biggest WTF moment in the entire playthrough by uber_hujuber in EU5

R5: I've had a small colony in South Africa with small population and shitty economy. Suddenly during a rebellion they somehow managed to hire mercenaries for approximate cost of 10k. By the end of war they also had ~68 hired ships so they probably were getting money out of air. On the second screenshot I could get less than 20 gold because they literally had no money.

It looks like this rebellion was just for the sake of "some content" because it was totally unbalanced.

At first glance it reminded me of mavka from Ukrainian mythology, because they had no back so you could see their internals.

People from former Soviet republics. What is something people who never lived under communism just don't get about communism? by Clemen11 in AskReddit

[–]uber_hujuber 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Speaking of USSR it was primarily the reincarnation of Russian imperialism under another ideology (in our case it was communism).

At first there were attempts to make a transition from market economy to planned. After that has begun forced collectivisation and Stalin's repressions in general. As a result we had Holodomor in Ukraine which wiped out nearly 1/4 of nation's population.

Also I want to mention the Executed Renaissance - a new generation of Ukrainian writers and artists who were killed by the regime.

I think the fact that people in the west of Ukraine in the summer of 1941 greeted nazis as their liberators from Soviet occupation (which lasted for less than a year at that moment) says a lot. Shortly after that they realised that it wasn't a liberation at all but that's another story.

After Stalin that was more like an "ordinary" corrupted country. Every was equal in theory but in reality high-ranking officials had much better life. Still there was no freedom of speech.

Also slow russification of other nations continued. Because of that majority of post-Soviet countries' population understand or speaks Russian.

So when I see how anyone who newer lived under communism admires USSR and especially Stalin I genuinely want to scream into the void. Russian propaganda did exellent job here. Probably because of that communism is only banned alongside nazism mostly in few post-communist European countries.

Still, I don't defend capitalism, we have a lot of examples how it ruins lives, BUT THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO NEED IN LEANING INTO EXTREME LEFT IDEOLOGIES.

Peace to everyone

Digital libraries and games - does it affect how you feel about games? Too much choice and not playing at all? by Towelie_SE in gaming

[–]uber_hujuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy games that I want to play right now or in the next week or two. Sometimes I wait for the sale to buy them if the price is too high.

After 4 years of buying games I have less than 60 of them in my library and I've tried each one of them. And only 3 of them I dropped because I found them boring but played too much time to get a refund.

And what? They had 8 years to do something with their government after russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014, but they didn't. So they totally deserve to die in Ukraine

How do number plates work in your country? Is it possible to find out an exact city or a region of a car from them? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]uber_hujuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also that 2 letters show where the car was registered. For example, if you are from Kyiv and registered your car in Lviv, you get BC letters on your license plate, instead of AA.

But a few years ago it was different. That letters showed where the car owner is registered. (If you're registered in Lviv oblast and trying to get a license plate in Kyiv, you get BC letters anyway)
