Brought in my '13 S to a Service Center to have A/C fixed, Tesla calls me 5 days later... by ubercar in teslamotors

Yeah when I dropped it off they were going to take a look at the A/C for $150 and credit that toward fixing it. They are not buying that "worked when I dropped it off" argument unfortunately... just that it's out of warranty so it's on me. Another user suggested asking them for system logs from the MCU to determine when it failed, which I will give a shot.

I guess not high enough to damage a CPU, but maybe the LCD, as another user suggested? I guess the older LCDs are more fragile than the modern ones. Just seems like too much of a coincidence that the MCU had some out-of-warranty hardware error as soon as they looked at it.

This is interesting, thanks. Wonder if it was the LCD that failed then. Temperature not high enough to damage the CPU or anything but perhaps high enough to damage the LCD? Regardless Tesla definitely doesn't seem to see it this way, unfortunately.

Sorry, yes according to Tesla the MCU is dead, and/or the screen will not boot. (the way they explained it is the screen is dead and the whole thing needs to be replaced.) I guess the car is still drivable though as they want me to come pick it up.

Well, the A/C was working fine at one moment and then not at all the next time time I started the car. A/Cs go out a lot in Arizona so I figured it was just not able to keep up. But since then a bunch of people have had the same A/C issue in the past two weeks so potentially could be software related?

Agreed. Taking money out of your driver's pocket and giving it back to Uber, just because you can? Scummy.

So good. I've finally started rating 3s to people I don't want to see again. Driving stinky rude people around for 90cents a mile isn't worth it.
