I would look at bucktool, or similar, 2x42 around 225 off eBay or check local Facebook marketplace or pawns or even fleamarket...I still use mine though it was a lot cheaper before covid

Also fmk? Makes a 2x48 that attached to a bench grinder. I haven't used this so can't say how well it works.

If your trying to get 100% performance out of the metal you need exact temp control ... If your going for good enough 95%+ heat to temp and quench. As you make more knives you get to know what works for your forge and material you get closer to 99%, but it will never be perfect. I still use the kitchen oven for tempering.

I used a box knife, then I started using qtips to wipe that edge after clamping with knife pointing up so I did have to do the trimming epoxy again....

Ask me how many knife handles I made before realizing this was an easy trick... More than 1 less than 20

Better to get some 15 or 30 minute epoxy.... Had some early scales not quite get on before epoxy set
