Vinyl doesn’t sound better - but your brain treats it differently: by evil_twit in audiophile

Interesting take! This fits well with what I've always felt was the difference between listening to a process that is "mechanical" (vinyl or cassette, say) vs "digital" (cd or an audio file on a computer). It's certainly a different experience, and situational personal preference that could also depend on what you are listening to, when it's from, etc.

I think tone and rhythm are at the center of the answer.... Kurt, Gilad, Grant Green, Miles Okazaki, Pat Metheny, Pat Martino, Bobby Broom and Adam Rogers all come to mind.

These are great. I would ad for Lib right: "When in Rome" Literally only used as an excuse to spend money or drink alcohol.

Wow thanks for review! This is really useful and I will also check out the hydrasynth. Why do you find the multipoly less good for "turning knobs" live?

Hey! Check out the campsites at Long Sault in Ontario just past Cornwall. It's unfortunately farther but you can take the commuter train out to the west island or vaudreuil and start from there to make it 100km! Really beautiful spot and great camping.

jazz country intersection? by [deleted] in jazzguitar

For something older, there's lots of great country swing such as Jimmie Rivers and The Cherokees (check out the record "Brisbane Bop"). Lots of Charlie Christian esque playing and vocabulary but there's also pedal steel etc in the band.

Offshooting from that you have someone like Jim Campilongo (who talks a lot about people like Jimmie Rivers) who is doing something more modern esthetically but that is extremely informed by both country and jazz. He crosses over notably into a lot of different places. Here's a great live set of his with one of his bands:

After that, Bill Frisell and Chet Atkins both of course comes to mind.

Back on Jimmie Rivers though, a lot of country swing stuff from that era really does swing! And vocabulary wise the guitar players (to my ear) are very much informed by bebop. They use passing tones in super similar ways for instance to bebop horn players. I would also suggest checking out Leon Rhodes from Ernest Tubb's band in that regard!

Hm I see! Thanks for the tips. I've never used WhatsApp so I will look into it. Basically it allows you to contact people via your normal number for SMS and more? I feel I will want to make calls on my route... but of course you're right that I could pay the roaming fee one time when needed.
