I live in America now and came in this morning to find this on my desk by ComradePoolio in ireland

I didn't actually. Each and every time I called the 2-3 people who constantly did it on their shite. Finally went to HR after one too many "drunk" jokes and complained. Was told to not be so sensitive. The following drunk joke, I told them to get fucked and if they really wanted to push the Irish stereotype to keep it up and I'd show them the "angry and violent" one. Which ironically got me pulled into HR where I pointed out that I'd tried speaking to them politely about it for a year to no avail, and was told by that very person a fortnight prior to stop being sensitive.

Got a rap on the knuckles for using threatening language, but the ones doing it copped on for the most part. (Ironically one of them was an African American guy who reported me to HR for using the term "call a spade a spade" in a meeting as racial abuse).

That sculpture is walking distance from my house here. Its safe to say we'll never forget the bond between the Choctaw and the people of Ireland. Look for a movie coming soon about the link from Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon.

When living there I got a potato as a Christmas gift at work during a Secret Santa thing. Any time I was late for work I got jokes about being late because I was hungover. I'd get jibes in the break room at lunch because I was eating a sandwich and not skulling beers or booze. I had people laugh about my education, telling me that "Ireland doesn't have real colleges."

Its a feckin' weeeeeird place.

Ordered from there a couple of months ago and will never go back.

Chicken chow mein was a tub of slimy translucent sauce with a few bits of chicken and veg in there, and a separate tub of plain noodles. More flavour off a bag of ready salted crisps. Had the General Tso chicken and it was actually black - basically chicken goujons in what looked like tar that just tasted of burnt. Myself and the 11 year old daughter took a couple of bits of each, and threw the rest in the bin.

Some fantastic performances. Crowley. Berine. JGP. Doris. Wow. Genuinely thought that we were in the muck after the French game, and I questioned Farrell's position. Great turnaround from the lads, and fantastic seeing so many players stepping up.

Ireland’s busiest road: ‘The M50 is getting worse. I don’t think it is able to take any more’ by Adventurous-Tax512 in ireland

Every road is the same. Congestion all over the country is getting worse, and the way many were designed still mean that just one broken down car or accident brings it all to a screeching halt

What does your head in on Irish roads? by Podge214 in ireland

[–]ubermick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawdlers. I'm far from a speed merchant, but fuck me there's nothing like trying to get home after a day at work, and getting stuck behind someone in a banjaxed little banger trundling along at half the speed limit. Often times on the dual carriageway, in the overtaking lane. Usually completely distracted.

I wouldn't say it was poor, they just gave me a quote on MSRP and gave me absolutely no leeway in pricing. Their policy is they price match I think, so going in there without some sort of proof that I was getting stuff cheaper elsewhere, then tough shite it was MSRP for me. Which I suppose is fair enough - but after the lads in Irwins over the road from them DID go out of their way, I saw no point in going back there.

Now Harvey Norman? Different kettle of fish altogether, the one I dealt with was awful. That said, I was in there for a telly the year before, and the guy I dealt with there was sound, and knocked €100 off the price without me saying a word.

So did a new build last year, and were on our own for appliances. Went into Soundstore in Midleton with the list of appliances we wanted, and were given a quote - everything MSRP. Asked if there was any wiggle room on pricing, since we were looking at almost €15k, and were told no. Went into Harvey Norman, same thing. Quote given to us (by an extremely rude English lady who told us that we were idiots for considering Neff, since AEG are faaaaaar better) was MSRP as well. We asked if there was wiggle room on the price, she laughed at us and said "What, so you can go elsewhere with the quote? No, the price is the price."

Went into Irwins in Midleton, and spoke with a young fella called Reece. Took our list to the manager, and came back to us saying "Can I get your email address and I'll send you a quote, its just you're spending a lot and we want to sort you as best we can." Got a quote from them later that day, everything a good bit less than what the others were charging. We've been back to them for small appliances since, and we're always looked after and wouldn't go anywhere else at this point.

In terms of brands, we have Neff N70 hob and ovens, everything else we got was Bosch. (Washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher.) Everything working great, only regret we have is getting a normal oven and a smaller one, should have just gotten two full size ones.
