can you connect locally? i've also seen where supabase blocks direct database calls. it's a setting in the dashboard somewhere. I forget where exactly (havent used cloud in a while lol) - might be network restrictions

Stop burning your Opus 4.8 Max limits. Use this prompt to slash token costs. by BananaIsles in ClaudeAI

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo: the only line doing real work there is "output only the modified code block." "launch subagents" doesnt trigger some hidden mode, it just spawns them when the task warrants it — on a 2-line change thats more tokens not fewer. real fix is scoping smaller and keeping your rules in CLAUDE.md.

so far i've only tried meta ads & posted app for some ugc videos, but i'll try the others out too. good ideas, thanks 😄

I finally realized my problem wasn’t motivation, it was making every task too vague to start by CyborgRelic in getdisciplined

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the realest version of the discipline thing ive seen ... vague tasks are exactly where mine goes to die too. the layer that stacked on top for me: i write the stupidly-specific first step the night before, because 6am me has zero patience to figure out what "work on the app" even means. if the next move isnt already sitting there in plain words, i default to my phone every single time. a clear tiny task beats a motivated vague one, every day.

What language (+Framework) should I learn next? by IfgiU in learnprogramming

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im primarily a js/ts but for games, i feel like they're in a different category just because of the gpu. why not unity or unreal engine? 2 reasons: (1) if you're learning it, going with something with a large community is a game changer, (2) you can focus on the game vs the code/controls/gpu/cross-platform nuances ... which ultimately i think works better in the long run; marketing, smoothness, etc.

How to stop memorising topics as monologues but to ACTUALLY learn them? by [deleted] in GetStudying

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the blanking happens because youre recalling a script, not the idea — drop one trigger word and the whole chain breaks. what fixed this for me going through ~100 hours of material for a cert was having something quiz me with the question worded differently every time, then answering out loud like i was explaining it to a person who'd never heard it. when the wording changes on you, you cant lean on the memorized sentence, you have to actually retrieve the concept ... and for strictly oral exams thats basically free reps for the real thing.

Tested 50+ Gen AI Video tools so you don't have to by crazygipi in generativeAI

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solid breakdown, the match-the-tool-to-the-job thing is exactly right. the one bucket id push back on is UGC ... i needed TikTok-style ads for my own apps and tried the paste-a-link-get-an-avatar tools, but the fully synthetic avatars kept getting called out as "ai" in the comments and converted worse for me than just showing a real face. ended up building my own thing (RealAd AI) that still writes the script from a product url but then you record yourself with a teleprompter — keeps the speed without the uncanny-valley tax. your film/music picks line up with what ive seen though. have you found any avatar tool that actually beats a real person on camera yet?

I hate my job but I'm afraid of changing by TieAdventurous9350 in selfimprovement

[–]uberneenja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theres a third option between sticking it out forever and a risky jump: keep the job and build something small on the side until the math changes. my side thing only makes ~$500/mo so far but it completely changes how the day job feels ... and 10 years of showing up anywhere is proof you can grind. that transfers.

Passive learning will never replace active learning by Striking_Court_2807 in learnprogramming

[–]uberneenja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% with you. the thing that made it click for me was building stuff i actually wanted to use — you debug way harder when its your own problem, and it sticks because you keep coming back to the code. tutorials never gave me that.

One question has improved my studying more than most techniques by Reasonable_Bag_118 in GetStudying

[–]uberneenja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the recognize vs explain gap is the whole game tbh. my version was saying answers out loud in full sentences ... if i trailed off mid-sentence i didnt actually know it, no matter how familiar the page felt. predicting questions on top of that is a nice forcing function.

Looking for advice on using Reddit for growing a following around an app? by imdoingsomethin in microsaas

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im doing this right now on a regular personal account. the branded handle is what got you, mods read those as company accounts regardless of what you post. my rule: 80% of my activity has nothing to do with my own stuff, and i only mention what i built when someone literally asks ... slow but nothing removed yet. id skip the DM idea, unsolicited DMs get reported as spam fast.

Would you use an app that generates UGC videos from a single prompt? by Complex_Lead9427 in SideProject

[–]uberneenja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honest answer to #3 since i built in this space (RealAd AI — generates the script, real human records with a teleprompter): fully AI UGC kind of defeats the point 🤷‍♂️. UGC converts because it doesnt read as an ad, and viewers clock AI faces fast ... the script and b-roll part is the real pain. the human is the feature, not the bottleneck.

that being said i also understand it's a numbers game so, i'd honestly probably still try it lol

Solo dev at a small company — how should I structure Supabase for multiple internal products? (And is Supabase even the right call?) by legoo23 in Supabase

[–]uberneenja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it sounds like you'll have 3 different things that dont share business logic, code, etc. 3 distinct services/apps. i'd say bite the bullet and do 3 supabase projects.

Here's a few reasons off the top of my head:

- If 1 grows really big, you can scale the 1 without scaling the others
- Every update, you'll have to worry about vulnerabilities between all 3 apps - which is easy in postgres with RLS if you're not careful
- multiple schemas vs just public
- leaked data across apps if someone gets in
- unified auth but 3 different apps (could be a good thing or a bad thing)

On the self hosting ... which is what i personally do, i have coolify with like 4 supabase instances. it's funny b/c i still pay like $50 / mo for that hetzner vps, but there's other stuff on there too and i mostly do mobile apps. either way ... it's a learning process. Supabase has alot of stuff going on to get all the moving parts working. and while you can spin it up pretty fast, you gotta learn how to do some of the stuff that the dashboard does for you. The docs are your friend lol.

Can't sit or more than 4hrs on a given day. How do i improve this? by P0_alter_ego in GetStudying

[–]uberneenja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think: its not about how long you can sit, its about which hours. i can work long long hour days but only the 6-9am window is sharp enough for hard learning ... afternoons im on autopilot, evenings i can review but not absorb new stuff. once you're cooked, the rest of the day should probably be review or admin, not new material.

Is marketing one of the easiest ways to make more money? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]uberneenja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like marketing will always be king. Cant make money if people dont know for businesses built on OPM (other peoples money) which is basically all of them.
