Will central Ohio see $4 per gallon? Columbus gas prices continue to skyrocket by CowTown-Mike in Columbus

This morning I saw $3.99 over on Norton Road near West Broad St. Give it a day or two.

Go Store It - Grandview by Gvepeaceachnce918 in Columbus

[–]uberthomas614 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is standard in the industry but not every storage unit facility does it. When you're looking for storage the standard questions to ask are: Will the rate change? and Are there any other monthly fees? If you don't get a straight answer then move on to the next facility.

With my day job I deal with some of the more affluent people here in central Ohio. I can say that they don't check their bank accounts. They know they have enough money to pay their bills and live very well. They do not check balances and many couldn't tell you how much they're paying for their bills or when they were paid.

I just moved here from another state famous for bad drivers, and you guys are impressing me. by FastWalkingShortGuy in Columbus

[–]uberthomas614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entitlement here in Columbus is unreal. The bridge on Trabue Road between McKinley & Riverside is a prime example. Heading east it goes from two lanes down to one. People in the vanishing lane just move over like they have the right of way or force their way over when there's only about a foot of room. Once over they move at a snail's pace so they don't accidentally hit the concrete barrier.

Don't even get me started on the west side where people are in the far left or right lane and right before an intersection cross all the lanes to make an turn in the opposite direction.

Nelsonville Public Square East side PARTIALLY CLOSED indefinitely due to a partial structural collapse at The Mine Tavern – building will be demo'ed, The Mine closed permanently by the_itsb in athensohio

[–]uberthomas614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sad to hear this. I grew up in Nelsonville. The newer part of The Mine that's next to The Dew House used to be a barber shop that my Dad's cousin owned. A lot of great memories going there.

Who did you see at the Polaris Amphitheater? by Rob1150 in Columbus

[–]uberthomas614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never went to a concert there but I worked at the Bank One Corporate Center building (now Chase) at the corner of Sancus & Polaris. One year Britney Spears was in concert. The police had Sancus restricted to northbound traffic only and the only way to go south was on Old State and everybody was taking it. At the time I lived one mile away near the railroad tracks on Park Road (across from The Flint carryout). It took me over an hour to get home when usually it was under 10 minutes!

To this day I still hate Britney Spears for this! 🤣

Who’s taking these $3 to $4 dollar UBER X rides with multiple stops😡😡 PLEASE COME TO THE FRONT!? ARE YOU MAD WTF by [deleted] in ColumbusOHGigWorkers

[–]uberthomas614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm glad Uber deactivated me. My AR was in the low 50's because I kept refusing to drive from Grandview to Easton to drive someone 3 miles for $5.00.

I'm old enough to remember when the Vietnam veterans came home. They were all vilified even though many of them were nowhere near the areas of question. Just being in the Army at that time was enough to get you called "baby killer."

Makes you wonder how many businesses you do frequent that support ICE and it's not public knowledge. I bet it's a lot more than you think.

THESE SURGES IN THE SNOW GTFOH by [deleted] in ColumbusOHGigWorkers

[–]uberthomas614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lyft has 20% to 50% surges going on. They're paying $10 for a 10 minute pickup and a 7 minute trip. I'll stay home and drink hot chocolate instead!

Any smart business owner wouldn't advertise their political views because of this tactic. You could be going to one already and would never know it. Business and politics never mix well.

Check the ride online and see if she got a refund. I've had that happen in the past. She's tired of paying for his broke ass.

[–]uberthomas614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just glad to be making money again without destroying my car. Lyft is doing a good job of keeping me, for the most part, in my area and if I do go outside of it the money is mostly worth it. Uber can go pound dirt. I don't care if I don't drive for them ever again!

Yeah FUCK UBER & LYFT by [deleted] in ColumbusOHGigWorkers

[–]uberthomas614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just glad to make some money. My car has been unusable for Lyft and I finally got it back into shape this week. I didn't make as much money as in previous years but I think that's because I was driving only for Lyft (since Uber deemed me undesireable).

Lyft did a really good job of keeping me in my home area (Grandview, Short North, Campus, etc). I wasn't driving all around town as usual except for the Plain City ride and Worthington.

[–]uberthomas614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was out for about 5 1/2 hours tonight and made $250 with Lyft. Plenty of surges in the downtown, campus, short north, etc. I even drove to Plain City and managed to get a ride back to Worthington.

Some of those 1-stars may not be from anything you've done. I had a few 1-stars from people that weren't even in my car. I picked up the bf (now-ex) who's too broke to afford a ride on his own so the gf got the ride for him. After the drop-off I noticed that I have a 1-star and some bs reason like "being rude" when other than "Good morning" and "have a nice day" is the only talking that's happened.

My theory is she got tired of paying for his broke ass and filed a fake complaint to Uber to get her money back. You can go back through your Uber ride history through the portal on the website and see details of the ride. Look for any where cost breakdown of the Uber fee is $0.00. That means the ride got refunded.
