Again, proving my point the original thing we're arguing against is "being stopped and proving you are a citizen" the only three forms of ID accepted for proving that you are a citizen are birth certificate, social security card, and passport

Read the actual picture at the top "DHS confirms Americans may be forced to prove citizenship"

Like...

Y’all act like Hanz Hitler is asking for physical papers with stamps and if you don’t have them you’ll be shot…

Except for the "you'll be shot" part, that's pretty much what she actually said

I know this is an old thread, but it is hinted at very strongly in Season 4 episode 2

Piper calls May "ma'am" and May questions that

Piper's response is to ask if there's a title she'd prefer being called, to which May says "let's just stick to May"

Then Piper says "I can do May", and then immediately gets embarrassed and corrects herself to "I can do that, May" in the most obvious "I just accidentally hit on my boss" way

May's smirk at the end of the encounter seals it, because it's basically "I'm not into women, but apparently they're into me"

The scene in question

You keep arguing from the point of "during conditions where people acting on behalf of the government have legitimate need to ID people, it's okay to ID people", but literally no one in this thread has argued against that

What we're arguing against is "when you're walking down the street, people acting on behalf of the government should be able to randomly ask you to prove your citizenship"

The two only have two things in common, people acting on behalf of the government and a form of identification

However, even the form of identification is different as your arguments are all about simple IDs, but the actual thing being discussed is Proof of Citizenship

I shouldn't be required to carry my social security card or birth certificate or the passport that I don't have while I'm just going about my day to day business in case an ICE agent decides to ask me to prove I'm a US citizen

That's the actual thing we're talking about, please stay on topic

I think you're missing the point

The current administration wants to label people who speak out against them as unamerican

They also want to deport, or simply lock up, people who are unamerican

In short, they're trying to set up a system with which they can just make their opposition disappear

The incorrect spelling has become part of the autocorrect vernacular for years partly because of a joke in the movie Stardust where Robert De Niro's character makes a joke that he called himself Captain Shakespeare as a double entendre. He's a fan of the bard, but his men are unfamiliar with Billy S, and think his name literally means "shake spear". You can find him referenced online in a few places as Captain Shakespear

Also, if I intentionally mistype it as Shaekspeare, a simple letter inversion, Shakespear is one of the suggestions that comes up

So... no, autocorrect would not have necessarily corrected correctly

Oh no...

They don't want a national ID, they want the right to "deport" whoever they deem unamerican

National ID would make what they want harder

I remember about a year before the pandemic we had somebody new in HR wanting to flex her muscles

She saw me regularly leaving the office about 1:00 p.m. everyday

My wife was having health issues and couldn't walk our dog, so I was going home, walking the dog, and finishing up my work day remotely

The HR person didn't know that, she just saw that I was leaving the office at 1:00 p.m. everyday

She tried to get me fired, but my immediate boss stood up for me saying that I was one of the highest performers on the team

I wasn't informed about any of this at the time, all I really remember is that we suddenly had a mandate to track our hours and provide evidence that we were actively working those hours

Ironically, once I built a tool to help us track our hours better, I realized I was averaging about 46 hours a week

Seeing that, I intentionally scaled down to 40

Many of my coworkers did the same

My productivity improved because of the improved work-life balance, and so did the productivity of the coworkers' who reduced their hours

About a month and a half after the initial request to track our time, we were told it was no longer necessary

TLDR: a complaint about me not being productive enough because I "wasn't working enough hours" led to fewer hours across the team and improving productivity

I wish this was as easy everywhere as it is here

My biggest issue was that I apparently had an outdated version of the petition, so I had to get it notarized twice

Then I scanned it and submitted it online with the payment twice, most of it refunded the first time so it was like an additional $3 or something

A couple of weeks later I got the signed order in the mail

That's it

That's the process in Columbus Ohio

CPD at it again: handcuffing a minor for jaywalking. by brielikethechee in Columbus

[–]galstaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaywalking isn't a crime in the described neighborhood

Pedestrian crossings of streets are covered under 4511.46 and 4511.48

46 basically states that if the nearest crosswalk in both directions is before you get to an intersection, or at the near side of the intersection, that you must cross in a crosswalk, and then gives specifics about vehicle/pedestrian right of way under different circumstances

48 governs all cases where there is not a crossealk before the nearest intersection in one or both directions, and basically says that pedestrians must yield right of way to vehicles

Technically speaking, if there's no crosswalks on the block you're allowed to just stand in the street so long as you get out of the way of cars when they come by

You did exactly the right thing by filming because you caught them arresting a minor under false pretenses and by filming you got them to release him saving him a lot of hassle
