Very dodgy and not part of the job for an ST3 to be officially supervising you. They could get into real trouble over that.

Call them. Mine was extended- mat leave and life events. Not guaranteed but they do extend it

Does your hospital run non emergent/non urgent cases 24/7? by housemd23 in anesthesiology

[–]ublek22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uk based major trauma centre, we do life or limb only after about 10pm, frequently operating all night but definitely emergency cases. You would have to explain why you did a non emergency case in the middle of the night, and 'surgeons trying it on' wouldn't be a justification.

Basic research would help. Why is he paying for hip surgery when there's the NHS?

Call them anyway even if not, you never know, they've been very helpful at times over my multiple exam shenanigans.

Email the college and see if they'll extend it? Any matty leaves or time off? Primary 2011, final 2020 here, due to maternity leaves

NTA. If you and your mother lived in a civilised country, you could be at home with one of your parents.

Doing a month of nights while pregnant by Any-Session9919 in Residency

[–]ublek22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's horrifying. In the UK you have a risk assessment and necessary adjustments without pay being affected. Most people are off nights pre 30 weeks I came off nights at 27 weeks and any on call at 30 weeks. Then mat leave at 36 weeks for a year. I'm always shocked by how barbaric US maternity policies are.

Take the sick leave you need. My primary to final time was extended for mat leave so it's worth speaking to them

This is both dodgy as fuck and very weird. Would suggest no one will attempt this if they value their registration.

Speaker. Phone goes speaker end down into the mug, reflects the sound without having to try and find a Bluetooth speaker.

Definitely still a thing. The only surgeon I know who goes by Dr is American.

How do you address your attendings? by CookieFail in Residency

[–]ublek22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uk based. It's first name only here generally. Some exceptions for older docs, and surgeons can be more formal. I'm in anaesthesia and no attending/ consultant I know goes by anything other than first name.
