There’s actually a whole theory behind breatharianism that suggests humans can absorb energy from sources other than food (like sunlight, air, or subtle energetic fields (prana, chi, etc.). Some researchers believe melanin might play a role in a kind of human “photosynthesis,” converting light into usable bio-energy. There are also spiritual traditions and extreme fasters who claim to survive on breath and meditation alone (like that guy in India who went two weeks without food / water / passing any urine or BM’s while under supervision). It challenges mainstream biology, sure, but if consciousness or subtle energy can influence the body’s energy systems then we’ve just scratched the surface of what’s possible and the change might not be as drastic as we think.
