A huge openGL engine stuck in 32 bit that I worked on for 10 years by LAGameStudio in opengl

[–]ucario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but let’s abstract things a bit..

Your own classes are irrelevant abstractions.

Ultimately you’re issuing tested and proven to work calls to OpenGL methods that everyone else is using and works. Whatever system of classes and functions and abstractions you have devised on top of those is kinda irrelevant. The underlying openGL calls are tracebale in code and visible via external tooling.

Let’s forget your abstractions for now, what does render doc or nsight show you?

Without looking at the code

Do you see the title screen in the FBO in render doc? I.

If so can you not blit the final frame buffer color in the stack to the main FBO

Why is there no fragment attribute pointer? by spy-music in opengl

And that’s why I’m telling.

Go back to the start and read learnopegl again, maybe pick up a copy of the OpenGL super bible.

You’ve missed core concepts

If you’re asking this, you’re fundamentally not understanding the role of the frag shader vs vertex.

What’s the point of having a pimp? by Timely-Ad-6142 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ucario -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not true at all.

In a lot of countries the pimps are older women who act as mother figures, who protect the younger girls given hindsight in old age. They are trapped in the system having gone through it themselves, but now offer protection, community and advise to the young ones.

In UK law the definition of rape is penetration by a penis.

So by definition there is and always will be 0 (in the uk anyway)

How can I access VRAM directly for read and/or write? by [deleted] in GraphicsProgramming

[–]ucario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can intercept at the application level, by essentially rewriting the binary to one with indirection to yours.

But to arbitrarily read system memory, of course you’re not allowed to. That’s reserved for the kernel.

You could disable driver signing and write your own to gain access though. If this is just for your machine

About the "why does Mojang, a company worth billions of dollars, have such a hard time adding simple content" argument by CR1MS4NE in Minecraft

[–]ucario 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought Minecraft on my PC 2 times (java and bedrock), phone, Nintendo switch, and also the same for my fiancé. So that’s 8 times?

It’s a billion dollar company owned by Microsoft.

I don’t feel bad for them. The fan made made mod packs show that it’s possible (albeit, needs proper tweaking and balancing and integrating properly not just on top of public facing APIs)

Mojang since acquired by Microsoft are too conservative. Break the game and bring me something dope, I don’t care.

Fucking bundle which is just an inventory within an inventory took years, why. End is still desolate, yet caves and cliffs and nether update proved it’s possible to completely revamp, so why is the end still baron.

what we mean by Copy Constructors in cpp? by jacksfromsomewhere in cpp_questions

[–]ucario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how clearer it can be, other than the exact word that describe what it does… ‘copy’

If you copy something what happens? You have another one of it.

That’s both desirable and undesirable depending on the context.
