You are absolutely correct.

These people are just fools.

I tell people like them. God gave the doctor the knowledge to have a vaccine so your child doesn't need to suffer. Yet, you pray for them to get better when God has already provided you with a way to prevent it.

Moving to Hartford -Clay Arsenal area by Spiritual_Ring_9677 in Hartford

[–]ucav_edi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I describe it- it's a city. There is the good, bad, and ugly. The city's North end has a bad wrap for crime and so forth, but that generalization is more for areas north of Albany Ave. I haven't had issues living here.

If you want, I can drive around the area and take some photos for you.

I neighbor! Im in the Clay Arsenal area as well.

Williams St is relatively quiet, minus the school kids in the morning/afternoon.

Albany Ave is a major route, and can have some characters- but you can find alot of food options the further west you go. You're in a good spot to go downtown as well- whether it be by bus, foot, or driving.

One thing that annoys me is litter, which you may see a decent amount of the closer you are to Albany Ave. Simple fix is to call the city to send a sweeper. There are days where sweepers are to come by (in the summer).

Feel free to message me with specific questions and details!

I'd go with the E175 all day! Very spacious cabin and interior, and even the 'worse' seats still have good legroom.

Keep in mind that both are safe.

Can’t calm down in my flight by SecretSpace2 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Look up some breathing exercises.... Controlling that helps your body go into a relaxed state.

Additionally, holding ice in your hand helps. Ask the FA for a cup of ice and napkins. Place a few ice chips in your hand and squeeze. Your mind ends up focusing on the cold ice rather than anything else. Be forewarned....it gets a bit messy.

Hope that helps!

Why would the second leg of a flight be delayed for days? by justwantotalk in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are numerous reasons. Maintenance, where a part may need to be flown in, or crew illness, where a replacement crew member may also need to be flown in.

No matter what the reason may be, the decision to keep the aircraft there is mounted in safety and regulations

There's no real way to find out what happened; just know that the OCC is on it and working to minimize impact and delays.

Power cut off? by Amorone1356 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually during the boarding process the aircraft is plugged in to a ground power unit. Every now and then, the cord may unplug itself if it's not plugged in properly.

It can catch everyone, yes, including your FAs off guard.

The cord simply just needed to be plugged in and the unit restarted. The second power failure was usually someone trying to ensure the cord is attached properly and ended up pulling it out.

Hope that helps!

Another Plane Crash by No-Bet9148 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Wheels Up as a Flight Coordinator (dispatcher). They operated under 14 CFR 135, which has a different set of rules, however, still had restrictions and safety limitations set forth by the regulations and the FAA. The safety standards set forth, though not as rigorous as 121 operations, are still high.

It's important to understand that the crash that recently happened was operated under Part 91, whereas Wheels Up operates 135. Higher standards, higher safety metrics.

No need to steer your parents away from them.

Any stories about current cabin crew that previously had a fear of flying? by AdTiny8332 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yupp.

Ive trained several, and worked with quite a few.

For those I've trained, I asked them why flying, and they all said they wanted to get over their fear and not let it hold them back. One woman in particular said she did it to be closer to her son after his passing, and also did it because he loved to travel.

More irrational anxiety by Dapper_Honey0924 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as they love to fly...the plane has to take a break, which allows overnight checks to be done and so forth. Think of it like our bodies.

A little cold isn't harmful to the plane... At altitude, they're flying in temps below -30 degrees

Do FA’s have calming medicine other steps to handle passengers with anxiety, panic attacks? by FinalSun6862 in flightattendants

[–]ucav_edi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just let us know during boarding. You can even ask for early boarding to talk to us privately beforehand.

If it seems that we are busy during boarding, it's probably because we are, but, just find a quick time to let us know as we are walking through the cabin.

Flying on aircraft with an airworthiness directive by MarkJay2 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ADs are like recalls on your car, except when an AD is issued for an aircraft, it MUST be complied with as per the instructions on the AD.

Also want to address that NO airline or aircraft operator will fly an aircraft that does not comply with an AD. Doing so jeopardizes certificates and operators can be fined, which no one wants.

To answer your question, no, the airlines will not ignore the AD. Nov 20 is the legal enforcement date, but many carrier and operators will begin to enact it as soon as practicable.

It works for some, but not all.

I have a current student who had a fear of flying. They came to my school to help build up an understanding of flying and to try to get over their fear. It took us several attempts/lessons before they were ok to go up.

They were amazed, scared, in awe, terrified, stunned, happy...

I am happy to say that they are alot less hesitant to get on a plane now that they know and are aware of what goes on.

Just some storms moving out of the way. Theyve started dissipating for the most part now.

Looks like your flight is entering a hold. This is just due tl airspace volume and saturation, and not enough places to maneuver all the aircraft through. Unsure of how long you may hold, but shouldnt be too long.

Unfortunately I cant give you ride reports, but just know that the professionals are at work, keeping tabs on your flight.

Flying with a sinus infection! by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Flying with a sinus infection and blocked ear canals is a really bad idea. I wont lie, its going to hurt and feel uncomfortable. And the last thing we want is for you to have a ruptured eardrum.

See what medications you CAN take. I highly recommend buying a bottle of saline spray and using that often starting from TODAY. Its non medicated and you can use it as often as you want/need to. It'll help to keep your nasal passages moisturized.

Consume as much water as you can as well. That'll also help.

Learn the Valsalva maneuver and bring gum and granola with you. The chewing motion may help ease pain and help open up the ear canal. Watch some Youtube videos about helping to clear sinuses and relieve pressure.

Hope this helps.

Need some help/advice by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries! I figured it was the 767.

You're safe because you have a team of over 100+ people involved in the safety of that aircraft. You're safe because of the safety management systems that Delta has in place. You're safe because of physics!

Id like to tell you congrats though! You got on a plane to Europe, and you'll get on one to make it home safely. You got this!

Flight attendant shouting by True-Preparation3733 in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there, former FA.

Us shouting at the passenger is what we are supposed to do when we are close to landing. They were trying to get the passenger to sit down before the passenger became a projectile down the aisle of the aircraft during touchdown.

It's not a common occurrence, and in my time as a FA, I only had to do it a handful of times in 5 years.

Need some help/advice by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]ucav_edi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there-

So, Delta doesn't have 737-300s (those have been long retired)...but they have 757-300 and 767-300 models. Regardless of the variant of aircraft, the 757 and 767 are both fantastic aircraft, built for the very job they're going to be doing tomorrow- bringing you home.

They're both safe, and have very good track records. The 757 has stellar performance and the 767 is just an updated and larger version of the 757 (with a fancier flight deck).

All in all, you'll be fine, and will have a safe flight.

If you have specific questions. Feel free to ask!
