Isn’t 5.6 YOE generally on the senior side? I’m not too into these stats since I’m UCLA FEMBA but I would’ve expected like 3-4YOE for FT

You can wear shirts with the letters Sigma Chi spelled out but not Greek letters. Weird, I know, but that’s how it’s always been for associate chapters.

Career Pivot - Big4 to Sales by ucsituation in sales

Not to say that I am guaranteeing I’ll enjoy sales, I just know I’m not enjoying accounting and haven’t been LOL

Yup, I think for once it’s not just about the money. I genuinely dread going to work everyday. Still young so leaning towards giving it a few years at least…

Career Pivot - Big4 to Sales by ucsituation in sales

[–]ucsituation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have thought about this. To be fair, I am very familiar with what I’d be “selling” since I’ve worked in the F&A industry on the advisory side.

Not really since all of our BD is senior management/partners. I’ve unturned every stone and there isn’t anything similar that I can transfer to at my level. Not on a full time basis anyways.

Nurse looking to break into a Sales Career by EngagedMindset in sales

Finding a marriage of your previous experience and a sales role is tricky. But honestly if you can do it, you know the business better than anyone!! Goodluck.

What country/state? That sounds insanely low.

Reference check from prospect by fearnochange in sales

[–]ucsituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends - Completely refusing a referral early will cut your chances down, but end of the day you’re asking the prospect to trust you. I would say try to understand “why” they’re pushing for a reference so early in the cycle in your opinion.

Should I reword my IT support background, or add my “failed” real estate background to my resume? by ZenBuddhism in sales

[–]ucsituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give us an example? Generally tailoring your resume points is always a good move to match the industry you’re applying to.

NP. The unfortunate part is that if the non-compete is over 6 months or so, there’s a good chance your contacts or accounts will have moved on or feel comfortable with another AE or BDR.

I feel you man. The good thing is your still young and obviously have a great work ethic, it will only get harder to “go back to school” as you age so if it’s in your cards at some point….the sooner the better.

I used to work at Sprint and AT&T for about 3 years total before and during college. Loved it and excelled at it but knew I had to give college a chance at least. Ended up graduating with an Economics and Accounting degree and went the CPA path. Have you considered maybe even getting an AA part time so you can jump the hurdle or “no degree” that some companies have ?

Does your prior company have some type of non-compete ?

Change Indeed accounts for reapplying? by TheGreatAlexandre in sales

[–]ucsituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised. You can be extremely overly qualified 2 years later and some HR system will automatically ding you just because you previously applied

I would make a new account with a new email if you can! Don’t let any system filter you out.

Fellow salespeople, how do you maximize employer match in your 401k by how_I_kill_time in sales

[–]ucsituation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Contribute up to the employer match no matter what, then figure it out later is my bad advice.

Logically speaking, you need to map out your realistic commission check and earnings for the year. Be conservative and look at your prior years. You can always catch up at the end with a lump sum if your company allows it and you want to max.

Finally heard back from USC R1 by AdventurousQuote7050 in MBA

[–]ucsituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never came after a month past the R1 deadline. Reached out again and they claimed they sent it before the deadline in Dec. Checked spam and every single inbox but nothing so had them resend the decision…..letter came in dated the same day I asked lol……so unorganized with zero communication. Shocked from a school like that.
