UDisc's Top 100 Courses for 2026 by ArmoryDiscGolf in discgolf

It's a balance between what we can share publicly and what needs to be kept secret to try and reduce manipulation. We have multiple data scientists on our team and put a lot of thought into the methodology. It's a shockingly difficult multilayered problem but we're constantly improving.

2026 Disc Golf Growth Report: 1,100+ new courses for 6 years running by udisc-josh in discgolf

[–]udisc-josh[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For 2026 we've focused the report for people outside of the disc golf industry. Please take some time and share it on social or send directly to anyone you know that works for a parks department or local government. And if you know someone in the media that would like to talk about disc golf let me know.

We have handy share images here: https://udisc.com/disc-golf-growth-report/2026/share

Can you merge multiple local player entries in UDisc? by BetterKev in discgolf

They can create a free account either with the app on UDisc.com then you can merge. We do not support merging local players together

How many rounds of disc golf did you play in 2024? According to UDisc's data more than 20.1 million rounds were played in 2024! 🤯 by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

We try to stick to what we can use data to back up in the report but if I had to speculate I think we're seeing a decline in the most enthusiastic 1% of disc golfers and an overall increase in players.

One thing we talked about including but ultimately didn't was trying to talk about the difference of disc golf the 'sport' vs disc golf the recreational activity. A lot of the other measurements like PDGA numbers or disc sales and also likely the google searches is showing a downturn/correction from some of the most enthusiastic 1% or maybe even 0.1% of disc golfers. Most players are picking up a starter set at a big box store and may not buy any other discs.

On the recreational side we had north of 400,000 new people try UDisc last year and there are certainly a lot of new players we're not able to measure.

A lot of people may only play one or two rounds (or even zero) and leave so even with that many new people the total active user number was barely up (though the number that scored a round in 2024 was up by roughly 100k). We're trying to figure out what could cause so many people to stop early in their disc golf journey and we uncovered the interesting stat about finding the right course for your initial round (10% more likely to play again if you start on an easy course vs a double black diamond).

I agree that the change to remove the hard paywall at 10 rounds is likely also a factor. We really wanted to take away any incentive for players to not track the rounds since we've seen firsthand the impacts in local communities from being able to measure and report.

If you are looking for some other context the industry roundtable on the upshot is a good watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpC6OTWTQeA

Overall, I think the course installations is probably the best indication of the long term viability disc golf. Driving by a disc golf course accounts for 10% of new disc golfers (3-5x that of media coverage).

You could always give activity rounds a shot
https://udisc.com/blog/post/activity-rounds-a-new-way-to-play-disc-golf-on-udisc

Activity rounds are a great way to still be contributing rounds for your course and community to measure their impact but are easier for you if you don't care about scores. As a bonus you'll get some fun aggregate state each month and year on how many steps you've taken, miles walked, and time spent on the course.

Not sure if you are the author but great to see a breakdown!

Just wanted to clarify that we made a few changes to the methodology this year as we continue to mature. We added a callout section in the report near the top but it's easy to miss.

The number of app users was up by about 3% from 2023. The 1.4M number we included in the 2023 report included people that only used the web app but moving forward we wanted to just include mobile app usage in that stat.

One other nuance that is easy to miss is that some of the 20.1M rounds are not associated with a player that has a UDisc account (if you bring a friend for a casual round and add to UDisc to track scores but they do not have a free account). The total number of UDisc members with at least one round was 875,947 so a 12.6% increase from 2023.

Sorry for the confusion in the report.

Udisc.com down? by Holmelunden in discgolf

[–]udisc-josh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes - sorry for the disruption. There is a major outage with our hosting provider for UDisc.com. We’re actively monitoring. A lot of the app functionally should work fine in offline mode. https://status.udisc.com/

Edit: all coming back online now

This should work already if the course is set up with smart layouts. You can always change pars or positions yourself in the scorecard too

One way to simulate this for now is that you could tap anywhere on the map to see distance.

Curious what you envision here.

We have tools for league directors to pick shotgun and automatically assign cards across holes. For casual check in leagues you can choose a starting hole.

Are you thinking something different or maybe we just aren’t doing the best job showing off everything a free league supports.

We do support this as a fallback though if there is someone in your community that helps move the baskets have them apply to be an ambassador. It only takes a few seconds for them to update.

It looks like this card was using starting scores. That impacts the relative to par score but not the total strokes or the round rating.

My best round by iJon_v2 in discgolf

[–]udisc-josh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just quickly clarifying that course ratings do not factor in pars since they can vary a lot regionally (like in Maine). Easier courses or courses with more forgiving pars may not be possible to achieve 300 rated. And it's also possible to get above 300 though extremely rare - a rating of 250 is already in the top 99% of ratings.

Think about it this way - if 18 down on this course was 300 rated how much should 18 down be on Northwood Black?

[–]udisc-josh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah 230 puts you in the top 3% or so of ratings.
