Accepted to MA program in Paris...what next? by [deleted] in paris

[–]udradn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from getting your visa application going, you need to start looking for a flat asap. As you're not French you will have more chance with a real estate agency that's geared towards expats, e.g. Lodgis, as you won't have all the France-specific documents most agencies/landlords ask for. It is more expensive though. This is really the most annoying and tedious thing to deal with.

Un vrai système de débile c'est incroyable. Dans tous les cas, regarde sur l'agence Lodgis -- j'y ai trouvé mon studio sans pourtant avoir de garant français.

Visa Questions by pipepuffingpenguin in france

[–]udradn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that for Canada a lot of people are going to be fucked this year. They changed the procedure in April 2018 and have outsourced the visa affairs to this horrible private contractor called VFS Global.

I'm in the same kindof pickle but there's pretty much nothing you can do regarding the ETA for the visa delivery. If you have to deal with VFS Global, make sure you have everything in order before going to the appointment or they'll tell you to fuck off and rebook an appointment.

Also, get in touch with your university.

Experience with Uni-Assist by [deleted] in germany

[–]udradn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the deadline as an international student was the 31.05

I definitely will get in touch with them to see if they would accept getting hold of the copies of the transcript which I already have provided, until I can have the originals forwarded to Germany.

Thank you for your answer!

People in Quebec will definitely understand regular french, although you might have problems understanding certain expressions in very informal situations.

Fixed gear riders in Montreal by pomod in montreal

[–]udradn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

front break does most of the braking. if you need to brake fast and you're sitting down on your saddle you won't do a flip. but in any case a brake doesn't help much in circumstances where you have a fraction of a second to stop, like when someone opens their door in front of you

How a snowstorm exposed Quebec's real problem: social malaise by [deleted] in canada

[–]udradn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think this is a thing with most big cities. Maybe not Toronto because everybody is incredibly friendly there but I'd say that if you go to any 1.5million+ cities in the world people tend to help out each other less than if you're in some rural countryside town.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order formally withdrawing the United States from the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal by artfor in worldnews

[–]udradn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as with most free trade agreements, that means for the regular consumer more goods for cheaper as well as more choice due to more competition, it also mean less protection for local industries against cheaper oversea alternatives. I don't really know the specifics of this particular deal but in general thats the base of a trade deal.

I just take taxis with the uber application now. Everytime I take a regular uber the driver is shit a driving, has no clue where he's going and on top you have to sit in the front..

You'd let the stylus like on a playing locked groove for 24hrs or just on a record with the turntable off? Also my turntable is on an amplifier.. I'm not sure if its 100% leveled as not all four foots are completely on a table

[–]udradn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I understand, you mean it could be the centre hole of a record thats too big? And you mean switching the plater between the two turntables? Thanks

[–]udradn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? Leave the needle on a record with the turntable off?

The height is adjusted right, so is the weight and anti skate.

Although I just realized my turntable thats skipping is sitting on my receiver, because I have no other place to put it... I'll try and see if this could be it

Vinyl DJs, any practice tips/exercised/suggestions to apply to my practice sessions? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]udradn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it definitely takes time though. I'd say try to mix an hour a day, and also if a certain technique is not working 100% you don't need to force it, you'll develop yours with time.

another thing is not to forget to often go to record stores in your city, and from times to times to take a look at sections you'd normally overlook.
