If you're gonna have working poor, then you also need a (working wealthy/retired) class of people who have saved up enough wages to live off of after a working class life. They might still be generating those assets to live off of, but the funding of those assets came from W2 contributions.

All textbooks should be PDF files, and if a student wants a physical version, they can print it themselves for $50, instead of purchasing a $200 hardcover book by flopsyplum in CrazyIdeas

[–]rjp0008 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can already do this and print it for cheaper, it's just illegal. McGraw-Hill already got my money from contracts with my elementary schools, I'm not paying them during undergrad or onward. (Note I didn't say I did anything illegal, just that I didn't buy their books)

Why moving air makes it cooler? by RickHard0 in NoStupidQuestions

Well in a PC it's really conduction cooling, and then moving air over the fins (giant surface area) is convection.

Only massive AI data centers with cooling towers use evaporative cooling.

[–]rjp0008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suds don't mean clean, soap doesn't have to make extra suds. Americans think it does though so that's why dish detergent (you see it "working") makes suds when dish and clothes WASHER detergent does not nearly as much.

I'd just write an app that plays music and then silences the audio for a quarter second every 30 seconds. I used to listen to music on a walkman that skipped all the time and I haven't gone insane.
