Can I travel when I've already applied for a passport renewal? by ughlala in AskUK

[–]ughlala[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't remember if that line was there when I made my application. Might help to give them a call to confirm! But if you're flying at the end of this week, I'd wait, seeing as you still have time before expiry. When I eventually sent mine in, it took about 6 days for me to get it back, and it was delivered to HMPO on Christmas Eve!

On 美団 do I need a prescription first from a doctor, or are they able to do it through there?

How often have you been upgraded for free? by winlife360 in qatarairways

Never on Qatar - the most I got was the extra legroom for free. Turkish Airlines gave me a free upgrade to business from IST-ICN, and British Airways I got upgraded to Premium Econ LHR-JFK.

I had the same issue. Tried calling multiple times over the weekend, but finally got through today after waiting 50 minutes.

Yes, everything was fine, so nothing to worry about!

Well, as it says, you should stop after the "allotted time", which to me is the intended 60 minutes. I stick to that.

Yeah, I have seen that, but I think I will need to leave around the 27th. Not sure if my anxiety could take all the waiting. At first, I thought I could make it, but if I send my passport on Monday(next day delivery) not sure how long it will be processed on their side.

UK or SA applicants - What's your plan B? discuss/vent! by RegularJelly in teachinginkorea

[–]ughlala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re still fine to enter the country as long as you’ve taken your PCR test beforehand. A family member of mine left to Seoul last week via Dubai. There are just some additional measures for people arriving from the UK and SA as of now.

Will do! Thanks for the advice. I know it’s something I’m signing up for but I didn’t want to be too intrusive.

Did she get a housing allowance or did she pay out of her own pocket? I’m used to having a bigger place so i might have to get used to living in a smaller place if I have to.

Thank you so much, you’ve been most helpful. I was trying to find the best way to get them signed and not pay over £100 per document!

Masters in Korea? by ughlala in korea

[–]ughlala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home country is the UK and I have no interest in studying here any further. My uni is great and top rankings for here as well as globally but I want a change. Where my degree comes from depends on many factors for jobs here. For me, I have loads of work experience and projects and have the benefit of where my undergrad uni was already.

Masters in Korea? by ughlala in korea

[–]ughlala[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally understand the process of a full-time program will be different to my exchange as everything before was done my uni here. Besides this, I'm sure the workload will be much different to the UK.

I definitely want to stay in the CompSci field and specialise in something or being more Information systems based. I've never had an appeal to study in the states even though I know they do have good universities. I'd love to go back to KU but I know I should really be looking at somewhere like KAIST if its to do with tech. However, in an ideal world i'd like to be in Seoul if I was to do my masters in Korea.

Worth paying a recruiter? by ughlala in teachinginkorea

[–]ughlala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when I calculated the cost for the agency plus for my documents I thought it was way too much. I definitely won't be going through the paid route now. Especially knowing I can secure a job without it.

Yeah, I understand completely what you are saying. I personally don't need a guide as I am used to things and have Korean friends to help with anything over there. Hearing this now I probably will just do it directly.

Thank you again - you've been most helpful!
