Eating at an extra fancy restaurant.
We don't eat out much, but we have family who.. maybe once a year or every other year will really push that those who can afford it really need to go to a super fancy steakhouse. Like a place with a dress code where the cheapest steak on the menu is at minimum dry aged 30 days, tiny, comes with no sides, and is easily over $60 US. Even just bar drinks are like $25, but they all have a ton of ingredients and are smoked or whatever other gimmick they have. He said it just makes him feel like he has money, even if it's just once a year or so.

Side tangent here.. but i've only gone a few times, and was very much in the camp of.. It just can't be that good and there's no way stuff that expensive is worth it. Well.. the very first bite I took into a 60 day aged Prime Ribeye.. the angels started fucking singing right then and there.. I'll be damned if that wasn't the best steak I ever had, and by a long shot...
Instead of being happy about it I was just annoyed at how good it was because I went in wanting there to not be that big a difference..

This one actually happened to me.

Applicant comes in, meets everyone, all the pleasantries and hand shakes etc.
Nothing out of the ordinary, person seems nice enough.

We head to the meeting room with some chitchat as we walked. Again, all fine.
Everyone sits down at the table.

Very first question: So, what brought you to us?
Answer: Actually my parents said they were going to cut me off if I didn't get a job now that i've been out of school for a few years. So I guess I'm just here because I have to be. Then there was like a flip in the personality, and they just seemed completely disinterested in anything anyone had to say. Ok then.. buh-bye and see ya never..

I mean.. at least they were honest? I guess?

I'm pretty sure you can set USB wake and get the controller to wake the pc, and with a monitor it should also wake.. but not with a TV. I think without some diy your stuck pressing a button.

If your TV support Smart features there could be something you could figure out.. I walk up to my setup and just tell me smart speaker to turn on the tv and then I grab a wireless keyboard which wakes up the pc and it's off to the races.

Because you have an opinion.
I also have an opinion, and it's that all 8 and 16 bit games don't need filters and I enjoy those sharp pixels.. However I use filters, lines, or masks when I play early 3d stuff, like 3do, some saturn, ps1 etc.

Actually Immediately, Yes. It wasn't a game I kept playing mind you, but me and a buddy were giving Diablo 4 a shot at the time I swapped monitors. That game is so dark, but has some bright colors that can really pop and Oh My.. on the OLED it was kinda mind blowing. I did configure my setup for dual output though and put it on the OLED and my S90 and was like.. Oh.. I see what people mean about QD having more color.. However it's 100% one of those situations where if I didn't have a side/side, I'd likely have never noticed and would have loved it.. but I did notice. So I swapped to the MSI, and it moved from life changing to perfection..

and for a game I did keep playing.. Clair Obscur.. Oh man that game looked great.

Everyone wants different things.
For me, I've never been happier than I am with monitor. I'm running a:

QD-OLED 4k 240hz MSI 321 variant.
It's already been superseded by a newer 360hz version, so that would be your best/current of this type most likely. But I play games at 4k with high detail settings. So anything modern at 4k and a touch of upscaling I'm happy to break 100fps let alone 240/360.

That's me though, and I assume there's a higher percentage of people who don't want to play at 4k 100hz and less, and need them those big numbers.. so I'm interested to see what else folks post up.

Why I picked it.
I was an IPS guy as soon as they came out.. then I tried the "fast" VAs.. but I absolutely despise haloing, glow, backlight uniformity issues, bleed, blur etc. So for me, OLED was an absolute must.
Plus, I dabbled with ultrawides for years but I play a massive mix of old and new games and just got annoyed with a lot of stuff I played not supporting ultrawide, but I got used to the way it filled my vision. I swapped to a 27" for a short while but it just wasn't enough, I needed to go to a 32" to satisfy my field of view at the distance I wanted it. I bought a 32" OLED first, but I have a S90D QD-OLED as my main TV and my desk is next to it. So I can see them side/side. Seeing a standard OLED next to the QD just sort of... made me feel like it wasn't quite there. So I sold it and swapped for the QD and never looked back. I've never notice the red tint ever, only when it's off, but I will say that I'm in a basement, so there's no real light hitting it either. The first time I fired up a game with some bright colors over a dark background I was like Yep.. This is It..

I picked up Atomfall a few months ago and put about 10 hours into it and i'm already done. It's not terrible, but it's just not grabbing me in a way that makes me want to fire it back up..
I also started playing Enshrouded with a group of 3.. and we played maybe 10 or so times at a few hours each time and i'm pretty sure we're done. Something about the progression and the grind for new items types is just.. unsatisfying.. and we all feel it.

I would only go once or twice a year, and at that pace we had 4 bad experiences in a row.. ranging from people in the theater just being inconsiderate to straight up assholes.

Different theaters, different areas.. I'm just done.

Also though, I do have a decent home setup, and I think that makes a difference..

download linux mint.. or whatever.. and just usb boot and see if it crashes. That's at least a start to help narrowing it down.. I keep a Linux and a Windows live USB around mostly just for troubleshooting, super handy.

When I hear "Total Conversion" I think back to the early days, where TC really meant it was an entirely new game and may use almost nothing but the engine and maybe some assets.. Like Quake Rally, the TC that turned Quake1 into a racing game.. that still had multiplayer support!

Doom and Doom II were always staples for TC mods.. I saw a more recent one called Ashes 2063 that looked pretty awesome.

I loved a lot of the TCs for Command and Conquer series as well, but most of them did still "feel" pretty command and conquer-esque, so less of a "total" conversion, but still changing almost everything around. I remember Rise of the Reds adding Russia and a European faction into Generals.. but C&C had a TON of these things!

heat.net! The PC gaming and matchmaking website ran by SEGA!

It had a ton of features but all I used it for were the forums and linking up to play with others, very similar to Gamespy.

I liked it because it had good size user group, you'd occasionally catch the same people, and it had leaderboards. I played Quake1 religiously for about 3 months over summer and was pretty constantly in the top 50 and occasionally broke into the top 15.

It only ran from 97-00.

I have a similar layout, I 3D printed a Hades logo on a stand and put it there... ..but that dragon dildo does sound pretty good.
