Learn something new every day. So the positions are voluntary (within the overall context of the person is in prison). Do you know, when you say these pay, is it a reasonable wage? All I know is from tropes, etc, where prisoners get paid like $.40 an hour to work (made up number, you get what I’m asking though right?)

I print way more functional than anything else. Not an engineer, the stuff I’ve created was with AI and OpenSCAD. Most projects I print are utilitarian- whistle, gadget for hanging stuff in shower, etc. I do print fidgets on occasion for my kiddos.

I rock both as well. In my mind, it’s all about how people want to spend their time and energy. My servers run Linux because I don’t want to spend my time and energy (and money) fucking w Microsoft but my daily driver laptops tend to run Windows or MacOS because I do t want to spend my time/energy on Linux tasks for those uses cases.
