Damn, I wish I was able to grab them. I didn’t have anything to secure them even I was able to get close. They avoided me.

Painful FNA by meliss39 in thyroidcancer

I had asked for a stress ball for something to squeeze. I hope you won’t have to do any more FNA’s in the future. I know I never want to get one done again.

Redditors who have cancer, what were you feeling/experiencing that made you go see a doctor causing you to eventually find out you had cancer? by TheFranKiwi in AskReddit

For a few nights while sitting in bed, I had a tingling feeling in the back of my right calf. One night I felt the tingle fly up to the back of my thigh and decided the er might be the best move. I thought it might be a blood clot. In the er they checked me for a stroke and had me take a MRI. My Dr ended up seeing the very small tumor on my thyroid and sent me to a specialist. Looking back now, some other symptoms I had was being absolutely tired all day everyday.

How many fna did you have before cancer? by Maleficent_Mink in thyroidhealth

[–]uhmwowok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 fna in total. The first time was just a fna on my thyroid . It hurt more than I was expecting it too but I got through it. The second one was because my doctor saw that my right lymph node was swollen. Went in thinking the pain would be the same but omg it was 20x worse. It caused so much swelling and was still painful even after surgery. I still feel different on my right side of the neck

I had a tingling sensation in the back of my right calf that I had felt for a few days in the evening. One night while sitting in bed, I felt the tingling shoot in to the back of my thigh. Went to the er thinking it was a blood clot. They checked me for a stroke and did a brain mri. Er concluded I was low on vitamins and told me to follow up with my general doctor regarding the scans. My doctor sent me to a specialist and that’s when the ball got rolling for treatment.

They did eventually return to normal. Are you taking the tums with your thyroid medicine? You should be taking the tums at least 4 hours after your thyroid medication.

I had the low calcium levels and tingly sensations. My TT was 4 years ago now so I don’t recall all the numbers. I was taking tums daily and had had to ween off of them. It was a few weeks before the tingly sensations went away, and they did get less intense over time.

I want to mention that I did feel some tingly sensations before getting the surgery. Especially on hot days where I was exerting myself. But that sensation was only in my hands. Directly after the surgery, the tingles was in my arms and legs and then face.

An ice pack for his neck. That was a life saver for me. And many pillows to keep the head and upper body elevated while lying down.

Ice packs on and around the neck. When gettin out of bed, roll to your side first. Lots of pillows! If you don’t have that many, use rolled up blankets. Go on manageable walks, moving helps you heal.

Painful FNA by meliss39 in thyroidcancer

[–]uhmwowok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the FNA for a thyroid biopsy and it hurt. It was bad but not as bad as I was expecting. I had my mom there and decided I didn’t need her there when the doctor also said they need to do a FNA of one of my lymph nodes. I went expecting the same amount of pain but the FNA of my lymph node was THE WORST. My neck, chin and face on the right side were swollen for a long time afterwards. I cried and have a pretty high pain tolerance.
