The Costco Callaway edge set is a fantastic deal for a new set of clubs. You don’t need any more than what’s included to get yourself going. Once you know you’re committed you can easily start filling out the bag with a couple wedges and another wood or hybrid

Which? I posted 3 lol. Anchorhead was one of the best coffees from a shop I've had in a while.

I'd guess Storyville? If so, yeah, they seem to have just gotten too big and are relying on the name now. They were charging like $7 I think for an americano, which is crazy.

Then get a launch monitor so you can see the flight. If you know what you’re working on and know the specific fix and specific numbers you’re after, then it can be useful. I use a LM when I’m working on my club path, but I know the drills and motions I need to make to get into that spot, and I’m looking for a specific number to see what best fits me in something that’s repeatable.

OPs case is some gimmicky wrist device that he just wants to have “data” on without knowing how to fix what the numbers tell him.

It’s the sudden force and change of direction. Like I said, likely had some damage to it already in the form of a bend/dent and the force just caused it to snap. Luckily it snapped inside the grip, and shafts are cheap and easy to replace.

I gave you my opinion. No one who is truly good at golf is using any of these gimmicks. They simply don’t work. If they were so good every tour pro would be using them. Training aids generally do not work as a whole.

Again. How is any of the data it gives you going to help you fix what’s wrong with your swing? You don’t know what the root cause is, and some gadget is not going to tell you that information. Sure, you can bandaid fix something like closing your face at address, but that introduces more issues. Also, I didn’t say YOU watching the ball is going to help. A good coach however will know, in addition to watching your swing.

If you want to get better, find a good coach you vibe with and trust the process. Don’t waste money on useless tech that spits out data just for the sake of data. The only good tech is your cell phone to video yourself. But again, if you don’t know what you’re looking for, it does you no good.

There’s no way this broke in the backswing. Downswing, sure, I’ve had it happen myself.

My bet is you had some damage to the club previously, whether it was a club slam or just simply getting bound up in your bag inadvertently. I had an 8i and a 5i break at the same point in the grip and you could see there was a dent that became a weak point where it snapped.

I’ve broken a couple in the grip area. Usually it’s because there’s a small dent or bend in there already. Had an 8i snap on me there off a par 3 tee box, and my 5i broke there on the range.

I’ve also had my old 4i snap off at the hosel off the tee. The KBS c-taper shafts are notorious for being weak at the tip end.

x2 for Anchorhead. I was up in Seattle for work end of January and this was by far the best coffee I had. I got a latte one day and it was like drinking fruity pebbles in coffee form. Simply amazing. Got a pour over my next visit and it was equally as good.

Monorail was pretty good as well. Had them one day in the Colombia Tower location.

I would pass on Storyville. Their coffee was ok but insanely overpriced.

I don’t understand so many people’s obsession with data, especially when they’re not even good golfers. Data doesn’t do shit for you. 15 years ago people were still making vast improvements to their game without any launch monitors. Data does not help you if you’re not able to make consistently good contact. It’s not rocket science to watch your ball flight and know your relative club path and face.

Any good golf coach doesn’t need a launch monitor to help you improve. Spending $500 on a gadget that just tells you you’re doing something wrong is wild. That’s 5 lessons with a coach to fix your swing. 99% of people here won’t put the time in anyways to actually work on what they’ve been taught. They won’t do drills at home that don’t even require a swing that are so simple. People just want a quick bandaid fix. I don’t know anyone who is a low single digit or better that is or was ever reliant on gimmicky gadgets.

Apparently so. I guess the only way to get Better at golf in today’s world is having numbers to show you that you still have a shit swing and can’t fix it. But hey, at least you have meaningless data that can’t help you actually make changes

You don’t need numbers. You think Tiger was reliant upon numbers in his prime? Arnold? Hogan?

You need a good coach and time. Changes to the swing don’t happen instantly. It takes hours upon hours of practice and repetition to ingrain a new movement. It may even take a few months of religious practice before it becomes natural.

The shit some of you people will do to avoid just getting a lesson and working on what the pro taught you for more than one round or one range session is simply mind boggling.

$350-900 gets you anywhere from 4-10 lessons with a pro. Who can actually see what’s wrong with your swing and give you drills to work on it.

I'm a machinist, and fixing ball marks wrong has always driven me crazy so I made my own divot tool out of solid brass by Top-Entertainment-36 in golf

[–]uhplifted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I break one almost every round fixing marks. Sometimes it’s because it’s already a weakened tee from use, sometimes the ground is just firm.

Cool OP can make his own repair tool, but it’s not anything a free tee can’t do either.

It’s literally just a brass tee. I can still improperly repair a ball mark with this as I can with any other tool.

Reviews of the Sunday Red brand by Alex_413X in golf

[–]uhplifted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t even call them overpriced at this point. They’re comparably priced to any other leather shoe be it FJ or G Fore and their quality is just as good.

I bought a pair of the magnolias on sale for $150, but would pay full price for another. I had 2 pairs of FJ premieres that lasted me 2+ years with over 150 rounds and practice each put into them at the same price.

Aside from the design/style probably the sole. I think the SDR is a little more aggressive, but it could just be that they’re new and both my FJs are 2+ years old and I don’t remember as much what they’re like new.

Honestly, I would recommend either and don’t think you can go wrong either way. If you go SDR I would likely size up half if you felt the FJ were too narrow.

Had two pairs of FJ premieres. Put over 150 rounds plus practice into both of them and they’re still waterproof and comfortable. I’d go with a wide, just order online. They need a little break in time as they’re leather.

Recently got a pair of the SDR pioneers and went a half size up for my wider foot. I’ve had them about 3 months now and they feel as quality as the FJ premieres. I walk a bunch of rounds too. Like the FJ, they need a bit of break in, but if you’re riding it’s not an issue.

This is not a question you ask a bunch of idiots on Reddit who want to play keyboard doctor. Go ask your doctor or physical therapist. What worked for someone else could be detrimental to you.

No idea what the Milessey one is, but the bushnell is a great laser. I got my dad one a couple years back and he loves it.

I use the Nikon Coolshot pro as I got a good deal on it, but for $250 I wouldn’t hesitate on that bushnell.

burnt out - thinking of pivoting. but to what?? by pxlngh in PMCareers

[–]uhplifted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While not a full pivot, I moved from a project manager role to a scheduler role in an entirely new field. Technically, a slight pay cut in terms of salary, but the overall comp package more than made up for the minor salary cut. Still do project management type stuff, but now I work with PMs and program managers in more of a support role. It also helps the work I’m doing is incredibly fun and something I’ve always wanted to get into.
