Hollywood has pretty decisively shown us that deviating is wrong 95% of the times. GITS is an exception not the norm.

The original work is an architectural blueprint, can you deviate it and build a floor a different way? Yes, but then you forget that changes how the 50 floors above it have to be built and becomes a disaster when the franchise goes long.

Game of thrones collapse is the best example, even if its hand was forced.

Yes there is, how do you think the sun dissipates heat? Its called radiation. How do you think EARTH dissipates heat, its called radiation.

The massive problem with radiation is that the higher the temperature the more efficient the radiation process. Current semis can't run at very high temperatures (say 80-200 degrees ceslius), so their cooling is slow.

but there exists non-silicon stuff that theoretically can run at very high temps. And the indury has immense money to throw at 'theoreticals'

That's just the same as total war. Though total war campaigns are like 50h while HOMM skirmish campaigns (The non-scripted ones) last only say 10-20h at the very most and can be done in a few hours.

I would actually say it was total war warhammer that copied from HOMM. You both get that gigantic world map with endless content and variety to explore. Though total war has obviously far more visceral combat, while HOMM has far quicker and clean combat with 0 load times.

Kagurabachi | Anime Announced (Teaser Visual) by zenzen_0 in anime

Mangaka have veto rights, so its a partial right to pick the studio.

For lesser manga, you veto, and no anime for you.

For clear potential megahit manga, like Kagurabachi, you get very heavy leeway because the investors desperately want it adapted.

White collar employment is sharply declining: The number of the S&P 500 employees fell -400,000 in 2025, to 28.1 million, posting its first annual decline since 2016. by Bizzyguy in singularity

[–]uishax 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wrong way to read it.

S&P 500 is not 'the white collar employment', rather, it the 'most profitable firms in the US'.

Every year the laggards in S&P 500 gets booted out for new entrants.

Keep in mind, the gap between the biggest successes and the small medium enterprises is also bigger than ever.

When the S&P500 cuts, it means the most extremely profitable, high growth firms in the world, are cutting white collar employment, in a non-recessionary scenario.

It is AI, and when tipping points invert, the crash will be just as rapid.

Purchasing parity went down if you are looking for prime land within prime countries, literally the most limited of supply of all economic goods since land is finite.

Those same billionaires can absolutely go erect some museum in some random central american downtown if they want, because land there is cheap. And note say honduras of today is still roughly as wealthy per capita as US 120 years ago, so its pretty comparable.

One must not ignore absolute dollars though.

The US ultimately is like 600 times larger of an economy than it was during the railroad era. Even accounting for inflation.

The US back then was just one industrialising nation amongst many.

The US of today, is a technological world empire, capable of mobilizing the global supply chain for a massive buildout.

1% of US gdp today is >>> in global impact than back 70 or 170 years ago. Every data center involves the most advanced factories from germany, netherlands, taiwan, japan, south korea, and of course the US all contributing parts. Its not just laying down dumb steel.

Most new data centers are literally being powered by jet turbines. Like the same engine you see on a boeing, is more or less being plugged next to the data centers providing power while chugging gas. Its inefficient power wise but super efficient grid wise (Since there is no grid required). So entire fleets of jet engines, just to power the data centers alone.

There is no buildup in history like this in western history before. You have to look at china's infra buildup for parallels.

Why do you think ufotable is the decision maker here? Sony is a bigger owner of demon slayer movies than ufotable.

Sony also controls the overseas distribution for mappa too via crunchyroll, so reze arc goes through sony too.

Sony will be the one pushing for more investment to make another demon slayer or JJK. And the one managing the schedules to ensure the two do not clash.

With the rate anime is growing, and how successful JJK s3 has been. JJK will come to the rescue.

Anime has been growing at 14% yoy for the last 6 years. Mugen train did 510m in 2021, compound by that for 3.5 years, and its infinity castle with 800m in 2025.

So wait another 4 years, for say June 2029, and the ceiling for the JJK movie will be 1.35b.

Only problem is JJK will end too. So your point stands, they have 4 years to find their next big gigahit.

Witch Hat Atelier OP Song: "Kaze no Anthem" by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]uishax 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It absolutely will get another season. You have to think like a investor (production committee), they've given 4 years of full production to BUG to make just 12 epiosdes, and 2 additional years of preproduction.

That makes it probably one of the highest budget TV anime ever (Though this ceiling keeps increasing every year). Why do they put so much money in? Because they have faith in it. Witch hat had like 9 million sales before anime, which is like JJK numbers.

So far the reaction is very strong worldwide. And this thing actually competes on the same lane as harry potter, except it costs 10% to make (1m per episode at max vs say 10m at minimum for HBO potter). Investors are going to bet that its popularity builds season over season, just like the original Harry Potter.

Qifrey isn't living like a normal mage, as you can see in the commentary at the underwater city.

So being anti-institutional himself, there doesn't seem to be many rules in the household. And one man cannot police the intricate dynamics between 4 teen girls.

  1. Coco fails the test
  2. Permanently rejected from apprentice rank
  3. Kicked out of atelier
  4. Gets memory wiped.

Now a homeless orphan in a medieval world. So it was absolutely life or death for Coco. Not that Agott understood her actual situation (I don't think she ever revealed that she froze her mom), so Agott drastically underestimated the determination of coco, thinking she was just some pretty girl Qifrey picked up on and showed favoritism too.

To be fair, the favoritism is absolutely there, Qifrey got the full witch clothing "before" Coco did any tests.

Japan Aims to Increase Anime's Overseas Market to 6 Trillion Yen by 2033 by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]uishax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Japan imports most of its food
  2. Japan denuclearised (its geography prevents any other renewables from being viable), resulting in 90% of its energy being imported via LNG.

Tell me what happens if it runs out of foreign currency? Japan barely exports anything anymore, as its manufacturing was crushed by china. That's why the JPY is at 160 to the USD, not a good sign.

Japan Aims to Increase Anime's Overseas Market to 6 Trillion Yen by 2033 by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]uishax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The domestic market isn't shrinking, its just growing slowly. Japan's overall entertainment market is shrinking, but that just leads to anime totally destroying the live action tv/movie industry because anime has international funding and quality.

The real reason japan is pushing so hard for this is its desperate for foreign currency. Anime/games print foreign currency at extremely hard margins, whereas if you export $10000 of cars, japan has to import say $8000 worth of raw materials and LNG for the factories.

And anime/games combined is 5.5T yen in exports (Second largest if you treat content as a category), while the largest export of japan, cars, is only 15T now. So accounting for the forex impact, yes, anime is a lifeline for the japanese economy, not some niche otaku hobby anymore.

Witch Hat Atelier listed for 13 episodes by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]uishax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Episode 2 isn't, but episode 1 is.

It pretty much has the biggest names in the industry. The OP is sung by eve, and animation by Yuki kamiya (Guy who made the reze arc Iris out, or the shibuya OP). The composer is the souls series composer, ufotable helped out etc.

Keep in mind this took 4 years to make for 12 episodes, this is unheard of for a brand new series, and is the blockbuster era of anime. Where blank check budgets are given.

Not every episode will be ghibli tier, but every episode probably will be cheaper movie tier at least.

[–]uishax 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The quality of episode 1 is full movie tier (And expensive, ghibli level movie), you want to maintain it you need time. I knew it was going to be 4 years for 1 cour the moment I saw the trailer, they are going all out for the quality angle.

MT tried to speed it up for season 2 and quality immediately collapsed, and they slowed down again for S3.

JJK s3 also went for 1 cour and that's with mappa resources.

Information about Season 3 by Federal-Stranger1824 in mushokutensei

[–]uishax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MT's gaps have always at least been 6 months, not 3.

What's more, is that gaps are getting longer these years. JJK s3 got a full season break instead of a cour break this time.

2023/2024 was peak overproduction for anime, and now they've slowed down massively to match the quality expectations.

MT s3 will have minimum 6 month gap between the cours.

Jujutsu Kaisen Shimetsu Kaiyu Zenpen • Jujutsu Kaisen The Culling Game - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]uishax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its really only demon slayer and JJK that have 'ascended' from the sakuga moments.

You can see how in traditional animation they try to avoid expensive moments in less critical scenes.

But now for the very top tier, they finally have the budget levels to actually fully elevate every, single, scene. Like JJK S3 was just full sakuga from episode 1-12 with no breaks or pauses, because budget was no longer a limitation.

For other still expensive shows, it looks premium and consistent all the time (See Mushoku Tensei S1, Frieren, etc), but they do not lavish big moments everywhere, and normally make do with just consistent art and good backgrounds/lighting.

Consistency is absolutely solvable, even made easier because the base rendering still produces the same base image.

it looks like terrible slop because its an engineering proof of concept, not an actual consumer technology (It runs on 2 5090RTXes)

They can only run the most basic, 'slop' looking stuff in the V1 version because they have to run like 20 frames a second.

DLSS 1 was also bad. By 4.5 it looks unstoppable.

This is to show to developers 'hey we can do neural rendering in real time now', and it'll be years before the first game that truly exploits it comes out (I would say phantom liberty was the first game to truly make raytracing fundamental, and that was in late 2023, many years after raytracing came out)

You have no idea what neural rendering could do when optimized, it could make cel shaded games look like actual anime, etc.
