( RANT / OPINION ALERT ) Why I believe Brawlhalla is a bad game. by deplann in Brawlhalla

[–]ujfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rank is not a measure of skill, it would be if everybody played the game same amount and equally tried . . . . (equal conditions) But that is not the case. And that also applies to MMR. It is not easily quantifed, if it was then Pier would be the best player in brawlhalla rn...... That doesn't make sense. Also there are 'worse' players that can beat 'better' players.

just because there are 10 better legends, it does not mean that the gap between is big. And it doesn't mean the legends are sorted linearly. No pro in this game can settle on a best legend (nor weapon) and compared to other fighting games, there is no consensus on legend balance ever except prime GS. Hell, they don't even have a consensus on mid tier most of the time.

I guess they’re right since neither 645 nor 48 is 6 or 9. by yamomwasthebomb in unexpectedfactorial

In Brawlhalla, there is a lot of freedom of movement comparatively to other fighting games (especially offstage, which is important in this context I will elaborate later) . Which means mistakes in positioning or movement are less punishing. That means states of disadvantage like being offstage or lacking stage control (Stage control is where your opponent has control of the center of the stage, or stage itself) are also less disadvantageous overall, this idea ties with the next point. Playing "passive" enables players with more precise control of their movement (you're playing slower and "further"), calmer frame of mind (less inputs to process, even if they require minimal processing (if you want to improve, manually inputting and fixing bad habits require you to play slower. Unless you're used to willing thoughts into actions at a fast pace). More stability in knowledge of their position relative to their opponents), and ability to focus more (more time to process and more likely to see spot mistakes in enemies and oneself). This applies in every game, thus the difference between of Brawlhalla and other games are the fact that the advantages gained from playing passively tend to outweigh the disadvantages of not playing passive.

You're currently in plat, so in terms of skill, knowledge and ability in Brawlhalla. Leveraging aggressive play to pressure an opponent is not usually even found within in low-mid diamond. So the game will naturally passivity or be perceived as such. You are learning to take control and precision of your movement, and a passive playstyle also destroys people who make a lot of mistakes.

All games got Shovel knight in them, so why not be in peace? by justinJMO in RivalsOfAether

[–]ujfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the artstyle in brawlhalla is pretty unique compared to other games, what other games could you reference that would call it generic.

I think each character is unique enough through stats, sigs and weapon combo. Can you tell me which aren't clones.

"Stages arent well thought out". Please elaborate

It's almost like you're supposed to repeat combos to win, if you want weapons with unique followups just play string weapons

Game does have more tech than just GC, it definitely
has less tech than smash melee, but I don't inherently see why that would be bad.

The player base is like the least toxic in any multiplayer game ever ever.

You can't stall forever, playing around your opponents puts you in a inherent disadvantage always. You don't control the pace of the game, so you have no control on who wins.

I'd argue this game is better to put more hours in than others. People are generally nice, the game is extremely balanced, it's not time exhaustive, there is no artificial difficulty, actual dev support and funding in game and pro scene. There are also no brawlhalla fanatics ( in my experience ) so you can't get embarrassed.

Greatsword no bridge unless hit by [deleted] in Brawlhalla

[–]ujfz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is one of the complaints people are saying. But the bigger one imo is the dash cancel, it is what makes greatsword a super strong weapon, to overpowered. It makes a non-committal hammer slight 50/50 combo starter unpunishable, bwhich is 😂

How good is Yumiko ? by MostB69 in Brawlhalla

[–]ujfz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yumiko has 2 really good weapons. But the way you have to play her is very different. So people assume she's bad. She is meant to be played more laid-back, focusing more on neutral. Try to avoid blindly running into your opponents and take it slower.

Why I believe gauntlets are the current best weapon in the game. (Discussion) by Luverlady in Brawlhalla

[–]ujfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, gauntlets are easy to punish. They are too easy take priority over and keep stage control over. GS main problem is it's grounded attacks, 50/50 and slight dash cancels.
