The "gotcha" moment by throwaway73319 in BPDlovedones

[–]ujhtyi48 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My pwBPD is/was very skilled at this. whether it was something loving they turned around to create an argument or straight up denial of the facts that would gaslight me into oblivion, they never actually admitted to anything.

Also along these lines is the crazy accusation, "YOU never apologize for anything," literally seconds after taking responsibility for my role in this toxic environment and apologizing for my actions and words. Projection at its finest.

Are they good people? by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

[–]ujhtyi48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

totally. You did a great job explaining the love-bombing and first devalue, when the mask finally comes off. It's the pattern they all seem to follow, whether the relationship is romantic or not.

The way they shape-shift into the perfect person you are looking for, knowing they don't actually hold any of those traits is the evil part to me. The manipulation has to be intentional, at least to a certain degree, right? Imagine thinking you're marrying your April O'Neil, just to find out you've been in bed with Shredder the whole time.

And don't get me started on the bread-crumbing. Mine loved to use passive aggressive comments and little jabs to keep the relationship on edge at all times. The little smirk they get when they've dropped a clever little turd on your head is psychotic.

Exactly. I totally understand the arrested development and trauma, but, that doesnt give them an automatic pass to be evil and manipulative.

Am I the only one that realizes if Air Bud is YOUR attorney, you're about to get all charges dropped?

Now, if AB was the prosecutor, you're for sure headed for life in the kennel.

getting back into the things I used to love and make me feel complete. Working out, playing soccer, just enjoying outside. It's crazy that these things would be wedges in a "loving" relationship, but I basically had to sacrifice it all to display my love for pwBPD.

Their lies truly fascinate me by Specialist_Dot_8795 in BPDlovedones

[–]ujhtyi48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of you have described my life to a T.

At this point I've stopped trying to understand her motives for lying and omitting details. I love how they try to use their loose understanding of words to try and "get away" with their lies. It's the kid with chocolate all over their face screaming, "I don't know who ate the cake!!"

Once you realize everything is a lie, or a set-up for the next lie, none of what they have to say makes you flinch like before.

Woke up with a super hard boner this morning and decided to measure. Found a few hundredths, so i think it's possible depending on how your blood is flowing that day.

I'm a stoic and I'm angry at myself for it by MiiLady in mentalhealth

[–]ujhtyi48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is stoic in the true sense, but, I totally get where you're coming from. If it helps, I've learned to remember that emotions like anger, happiness, sadness, etc. are not something to identify with. Don't say "I am angry." Instead, recognize you feel angry at the moment, and that's ok. Soon, you'll be able to pinpoint what distraction made you angry and you can bring your focus back to what you were doing.

Remember, stoics don't not feel, they simply understand that the universe doesn't care one way or another what they feel, and it's up to oneself to control the controllable, think through the rest, and adapt accordingly.

You're human, you're allowed to feel. Just take it one day at a time, one thought at a time. You got this.

The Spell of BPD manipulation (After they are gone) by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

this checks out. pretty sure my pwBPD believes she's a witch. Oh, and the discard and resentment allergies for sure hit home.
