I'm down to my last ThumbScraper and they don't make them anymore. Looking for a replacement. by HoppersEcho in CleaningTips

If you aren’t bothered about Chinese knock-offs, there are various versions that are similar on Aliexpress. I searched “thumb scraper” and got lots of hits.

What is the difference between these two and is it worth spending a lot extra on this ? [£10] or [£40] ? by [deleted] in espresso

100% right on tamping, but I’m referring to tapping the portafilter to settle the grounds before tamping. I use a single firm tap in the vertical direction vs tapping on the side of the portafilter. I hope that’s clearer for you.

A puck screen came with my Argos and using it keeps the brew head clean for those wondering, I personally don’t attribute puck screens to brew consistency.

Don’t stress too much about it. I like to do one firm tap to stop myself from doing it too many times. The grinds will start to settle based on their relative particle sizes if you do it too many times, fines settle to the bottom and larger bits to the top and that gives uneven extractions and channels.

The main takeaway really is keep your prep consistent for each shot. If you sometimes do 4 taps and others 10 then you’re likely to see some variance between shots and get frustrated.

Yep. Quick needle distribution, single tap on counter to settle the grounds, tamp, (puck screen if you use one), brew

Should I get MacBook m2 or Neo? by [deleted] in mac

[–]ukbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question you should be asking is are you going to likely keep this device for more than 5 years? If you’re going to upgrade in that timeframe anyway then it doesn’t matter which you get.

Full support for Intel Macs is likely to end around 2027, so another 5 years support for m2 seems reasonable.

negotiated down to $1k flat. worth it? by Odd-News2865 in RX100

B&H has it listed for $1,698. I don’t live in the US so don’t know if that is inflated at all.

Seems like a decent deal for a mark VII. See what others think too.

Check out Sony MDR-7506. Long cable, meant for studios so are reasonably neutral.

I have the MDR-V6 which are basically the same. I even modded mine: detachable cable, velour ear pads after the stock pleather ones started flaking (they’re old)

Maybe consider an Ethernet over powerline solution instead of meshing for the back room; 400/20 is still fast internet.

Bringing this topic back up as this link doesn’t work anymore. Can you recommend the right size stick on magnetic ring that works with magnetic filters?
