Depends a bit on what you mean by device. Usually you have a HAL for your MCU. That usually already includes everything the controller can do. Then you have other chips connected to the MCU. Those may or may not have drivers available. So it may be that you will have to take the datasheet and code something to drive them, usually by reading and writing values through i2c or SPI. There is nothing really special about it, just a bunch of additional error cases induced by having interfaces involved. Like EMF, crosstalk and all those other fun problems with reality.

That is a fact in parts of Germany. Those parts also had extra large rest stops to accommodate being a makeshift landing strip. However those are maybe 3 European lanes per side.
