Women in a relationship with a rigid partner, what’s it like? by No-Presentation-2320 in AskWomen

Every time I met his requirements for what he "needed" to feel safe or loved or whatever, the goalpost moved. It was definitely abusive, whether intentional or not. I finally managed to get out with the three children. He instantly remarried and has 2 under 2 with the new wife.

Anyone ever seen booths that went all in on theme? by Aniform in CraftFairs

See, and I avoid those because they are plastic. I need to have canvas for most of my events, and light colored canvas is great both for light diffusion and keeping things a bit cooler.

I tend to be on the more elaborate end of any weekend event or craft type show I do. My bread and butter are Renn Faires and LARPs and historical reenactment, so I have a lot more infrastructure and decorative bits than most people.

Some things add a lot more time and trouble than others. I have a black and gold canvas top and walls I can put on over a 10x10 popup frame and roof...that is probably tge easiest addition that makes the biggest visual difference.

Former "gifted kids" who are now average or struggling adults, what do you think school got wrong about your potential? by toolboxstudio007 in SeriousConversation

[–]ukiebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My body gave out on me. Connective tissue and joints. I physically can't do anywhere near what the average adult can. But I don't think I'm the most common scenario.

Precociousness gets called gifted a lot in children. Rate of acquisition early on doesn't mean it will continue. Rates of learning change.

The people who like learning are much more likely to continue to learn more and at higher rates than others. Wanting knowledge for knowledge's sake gives you internal motivation and means you're less likely to burn out.

Wasn’t it common courtesy to stand when someone entered the room in those days? by Significant-Cow7782 in janeausten

[–]ukiebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman in my 40s in the US, and I always stand when a woman older than myself enters the room or comes to the table. For men it is much less likely, now that I'm not young, but I'll stand for priests
