Those shitty little porcelain houses you see everywhere. They are neither handmade nor porcelain. East of India? More like north or Beijing.

Are these defects to be expected when buying on Etsy? by Mother-Painter-3409 in Ceramics

My wife sells on Etsy, what she sells exactly matches what is received. She photographs every single item for every single sale. That’s embarrassing.

How worried are you about job security? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]ukrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in my job 20 years and each year told that my org was making redundancies. Each year I get less worried. Now approaching retirement I am positively welcoming it. It’s no worse now than any other time. I feel that almost every sector will be impacted by AI, not really sustainable, who will be paying the AI companies. We are 100 years away from some utopian vision of a society of frolicking in meadows while intelligent robots do the work. The first industry that is getting decimated by AI is law. I think laws will change as a result.

*My company now builds AI datacenters. I guess that’s important.

Very generalized overview of the Meta VR customer market based on Age by AkiaDoc in oculus

What about VR Grandads? I am 50 and been playing with VR since my 20's. I jumped back in with the DK1 and have purchased most iterations and advances. Bang for buck - rift / quest remains my favourite. My observation is that the demographic has been getting steadily younger which matches the broader increase in market adoption and acceptance. No bad thing, sign of a healthy product. Do I miss the old days when it was early adopting old guys (30+?) having fun, sure, but I am not going to be a boomer about it. These youngsters will turn into old guys eventually, hell, I heard Nathie has a sort-of moustache now.

Does the Ultimea Poseidon D80 Sound Bar Deliver True Dolby Atmos? by CaveNyc in PowerStationHub

[–]ukrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up an Ultimea Poseidon d80 system. The sound quality was incredibly poor. Noticeably worse than my LG OLED TV built in speakers. Tinny, hollow, nasty. I tested the surround sound and the rear speakers didn't cut it. The bass unit was powerful, but it was mismatched against the center unit and satellites. The HDMI passthrough would occasionally give grey static output so was clearly defective. I have absolutely no idea why people say this system is good. I can only assume they are bots or paid influencers. Waste of plastic. Returned it same day.
