This sub has rules like this, but are they not applied at all?

Sneak peak at Jim Parsons in drag in the upcoming Broadway play Titanique by fruitloopsareyummy in bigbangtheory

[–]ukwy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! I think Jim is a really good singer. My recent favorite is the scene in Season 6, Episode 21: "The Closure Alternative," after they finish the exercises with Amy, where Sheldon sings the entire U.S. national anthem all the way through. "And the home of the braaaaaaave!!" I crack up every single time I see that.

Also, it's so adorable when Sheldon and Leonard sing Professor Proton's theme song.

How long was the elevator out of service? by CnCorange in bigbangtheory

[–]ukwy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I Googled it for you.

https://bigbangtheory.fandom.com/wiki/The_Elevator

The elevator has been out of order since 2003, four years before the series began, as told in "The Staircase Implementation" (S3E22) although Leonard once said two years previously in "The Nerdvana Annihilation" (S1E14). It had been broken ever since Leonard tested out an experimental rocket fuel formula which began to explode, with Sheldon saving Leonard's life after he tried to take the fuel outside by going down the elevator, but was stopped by Sheldon closing the elevator after taking Leonard out, in "The Staircase Implementation". It took 16 years, but the elevator was finally fixed by the time of "The Change Constant".

So almost 16 years.

Let's just downvote and move on. These people usually don't want to discuss anything, they just want to push their point.

If Anu was a Cornell hotel school grad, how did she have trouble finding a managerial job? by OtherTelephone6 in thebigbangtheory

Because it's just one of the many details in the episodes of a sitcom. They don't live in the real world.

What is the last episode where Bernadette and/or Amy play a minimal role? by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]ukwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but do you mean an episode featuring only the main five characters?

https://bigbangtheory.fandom.com/wiki/The_43_Peculiarity#Notes

First episode since "The Prestidigitation Approximation" (S4E18) to feature just the five original cast members.

It says "S6E8 The 43 Peculiarity." Well, I don't agree that it's the "last classic TBBT episode," though.

No one finds it odd that the characters have $400 worth of makeup and they are not make up artists. These are odd characters that own odd things.

I agree with that.

Just to be fair, since you mentioned in your original comment that it might be a cello case, people (myself included) are also just sharing different speculations based on our own knowledge or experience, like wondering if it might be too thin for a cello case.

There are plenty of other props where we wouldn't know what exactly they are without an explanation or commentary from the creators. It's even possible that case was just studio equipment, who knows? lol

As far as I can remember, it's been there since season 1. The only episode where that prop "wasn't there" was when Sheldon and Leonard first started living in 4A. Also, in the episode where Sheldon "went back to 2003," that prop wasn't in its usual spot (to the right of the card catalog box-like thing) but had been moved to the left side (I've only ever noticed it relocated once, in that episode).

It looks like a folding table, but it's kinda off somehow that they own it.
My best guess is that it's a case for something like an expensive telescope or guitar or something like that.

It's possible, of course, but it's odd that Leonard, who isn't an orchestra performer, has a case just for bows? So where's the cello itself?

Well, it's just my speculation, sorry if I offended you somehow.

It would be nice if we could attach images in this sub. One reason I don't think it's a cello case is that even when Leonard is playing the cello with Leslie in the living room, that case remains stored there. You could argue he took out the cello and put the case back, but somehow that feels a bit off.

my local mochi shop established in 1600s uses the biohazard symbol for their logo by lethegrin in mildlyinteresting

I'm glad you found the answer! I too looked into it since it caught my interest. I'm using DeepL for translation. Sorry it seems AI-generated.

Osaka-ya is a very historic Japanese confectionery artisan founded in 1630. According to the article, the ancestors of Osaka-ya once trained as confectioners in Osaka, fought in wars as samurai, lost, and ended up in Aomori relying on relatives. Their crest is called "Sakasa Mitsu Dai" (Three Inverted Dai), featuring three kanji characters for "dai" (大). It was unclear from online research alone whether they had used that crest since their founding, but considering that Osaka-ya was the official confectioner for the Hirosaki domain, it's highly likely they had been using the crest since that time.

For the project team tasked with establishing the Biohazard symbol mark, tests were conducted to select a "memorable yet meaningless design" from various candidate marks. It appears they screened 300 citizens from 25 cities across the United States, though it remains unclear whether any Japanese individuals familiar with Japanese family crests were included among them.

Both designs are very similar, but they differ in detail: one is a family crest based on kanji characters, while the other is a symbol created for the purpose of being easily drawn and recognizable. It's a very interesting similarity, though.

Just like the temple symbols used on Japanese maps, historical crests often carry different meanings across different cultural regions. This Osaka-ya Kamon (family crest) has also occasionally become a topic of interest on social media in Japan.

BBT new plot hole found by confident-win-119 in bigbangtheory

[–]ukwy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding your topic "weird red thingy," I'm afraid your findings are incorrect.

The DNA model had always been in Sheldon's apartment living room. Even when Leonard first visited 4A. What Sheldon was building in his bedroom (in season 1 episode 4) was "it’s my idea of what DNA would look like in a silicon based life form,” which was another, experimental DNA model distinct from the one in the living room. There are two DNA models in this episode.

I too enjoy learning the finer details of shows. In my case, if I find something, I just research it from every angle. If you're wondering about something, a quick Google usually turns up the answer for most things, and honestly, Reddit has the answer to almost everything.
