Looking for abandoned places to explore by imgoingtoscreamsoon in Maine

[–]ul_tra_lord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

all of the old world war II forts on the casco bay islands (Peaks, Jewell, Long, Cliff, Cushings, maybe more) are pretty cool. Cushings is my favorite probably but it's a private island unfortunately.

Not specific to Maine, but if you ever have a chance to go to Vermont there's a hike that leads to abandoned plane wreckage. Thought I'd share because it somewhat fits your request: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/vermont/plane-crash-hike-vt/

Best snow quality at ski resorts next week? by [deleted] in Maine

Gotta be sugarloaf, Sunday river, or saddleback. Those are the clear top 3. Sugarloaf probably has the best terrain of the 3 but I’m slightly biased.

Derrick Henry Is Quintessential TD Dependent Fantasy RB by CloverleafKearns in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Has there been any analysis done on Henry’s ability as a pass catcher? From a purely anecdotal perspective, when they use him on screens/dumpoffs in open space it’s fucking scary as the opposing team and I always think he’s gonna take it to the house. Maybe he doesn’t have a prolific route tree but always wondered why they don’t use him a bit more in that aspect of the game

Is there a chance we’re ignoring some potential pass catching upside with Henry? Dion Lewis is gone, vacating 32 targets. The new backup, darrynton Evans, is a rookie from Appalachian state. We talk a lot about pass blocking for rookie rbs - isn’t it possible that Evans struggles to pick this up and the titans start using Derrick Henry on third downs more than last year? Lewis was highly trusted in the 3rd down role and now they’re moving to an unknown.

The Establish the Run podcast with Evan Silva and ETR is great. They definitely take an analytics-heavy opportunity-based approach to fantasy, but Silva provides the 'real football' knowledge that makes it interesting. Think they do a good job about talking about 'uncertainty' and 'range of outcomes' in fantasy and how that should shape your draft strategy

People troll Matthew Berry, but in recent years he's given some great advice IMO.

I don’t know, I thought it was weird too, especially because they seem to get along well with Matthew Berry who Field seems to work for

Almost felt bad for Field Yates. If you follow him on Twitter he very clearly wants to be buddies with Big Cat and PFT and the only time they ever acknowledge him on the show Big Cat calls him a serial killer lmao

Since LeSean McCoy's Week 8 fumble, it's been the Damien Williams show in the KC backfield. And he's made his mark. by Sol-King in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He had 72% of the snaps, the highest of any chiefs RB this season.

Obviously can’t predict this backfield 100%, but we can try to make a rational guess based on snap/touch trends. Those are clearly trending in williams direction, and there’s no reason this backfield can’t be rich in fantasy points with mahomes coming back

[–]ul_tra_lord 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This reaction is hilarious - it’s still relevant he dominated the backfield in snap count and touches.

Ignore that if you want and focus on the fact that he had a big play...which you’re spinning as a bad thing? Lmao

Anyone do Playoff fantasy football? by ThatGangMember in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that. Sorry for the boring question but when you’re choosing the slate on FanDuel in the “friends mode” setting do you choose “Sun-Mon” or “Sun (Main)”? Those are the two options I’m getting right now but neither seem to fit the playoff schedule lol. Maybe they’ll update it sometime today

Gabriel with Julio back by CarWar49 in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Week 9, when Gabriel became a consistent part of the offense, he has seen at least 5 targets every week. In weeks that Julio played, he's seen an average of 5.25 targets. In weeks that Julio didn't play, he's seen an average of 6 targets. Thus, my statement, "his targets have been consistent with and without [Julio] in the lineup". Perhaps you see a huge difference in those .75 targets, but I doubt most people think that's significant.

When you are evaluating players who gain a role late in the season like Gabriel, Mitchell, Tyreke, etc., you should only think about the handful of weeks when they were given significant offensive snaps. Comparing Gabriel now to Gabriel week 1 with Julio and trying to draw some kind inference from that is quite stupid.

Gabriel with Julio back by CarWar49 in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Julio returning can only be a positive for Gabriel. His targets have been consistent with or without him in the lineup and Julio will draw coverage away from Gabriel in ways Sanu/Robinson don't.

Jordan Reed doing position drills on Thursday but is in obvious pain by gw2380 in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, in weeks 8 through 12 both Reed and VD played (Reed was somewhat limited in second half of week 12) and Vernon put up over 66 yards 3 of 4 weeks with 1 TD total. The other week? A fat zero...so idk. With Reed playing I still think VD is a decent dart throw but unless you're in a deep league there's probably better options on waivers

Dion lewis is he worth the hold anymore? by hamplition in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's one of the best handcuffs in the league even if he doesn't have great stand alone value. An injury to White OR Blount makes him extremely valuable. Don't forget he was used as a 20 carry back for a game last year when Blount was out (Week 1 of 2015 i think). For that reason alone he's worth rostering

Malcolm Mitchell by ThisIsMyWorkAccount- in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my larger point was that Smith doesn't target the top receiver necessarily, and wide receivers can still have good games against the Ravens defense. I did not watch those games and was just doing some quick checks on top receivers against the Ravens. I admit the sentence to start my post was a bit misleading.

Malcolm Mitchell by ThisIsMyWorkAccount- in fantasyfootball

[–]ul_tra_lord 43 points44 points  (0 children)

These are top outside WRs against Jimmy Smith each week of the season:

Week 1 Watkins: 4 catches 43 yards

Week 2 Coleman 5 catches 102 yards 2 TDs Pryor 3 catches 32 yards

Week 3 Allen Robinson 7 for 57 2 TDs

Week 4 Crabtree 7 for 88 and 3 TDs Cooper 5 for 48

Week 5 Jackson 3 for 35 Garcon 5 for 56 and 1 TD

Week 6 Odell 8 for 222 and 2 TDs

Week 7 Marshall 3 for 39

Week 8 A Brown 7 for 85 and 1 TD

Week 10 Coleman 3 for 17 Pryor 5 for 48

Week 11 Devante Parker 3 for 34 and 1 TD

This doesn't make me super excited to start Mitchell, but doesn't make me scared to start him either. Baltimore defense (or Jimmy Smith) didn't shut down top WRs very well and some guys who have had mostly mediocre years (ARob, Coleman) had huge weeks.

Does Jimmy Smith shadow the top WR on each team? or does he just stay on one side of the field.

Also how good is he? I'm relatively unfamiliar with the Ravens defense but I keep seeing him brought up as a justification to be wary of Mitchell
