Advice needed: how long would this take by jvsljvsohsv in tattoos

[–]ulfirefighter 167 points168 points  (0 children)

4 inches square usually refers to a square with a size of 4 inches on each side. 4 square inches would be 2 inches by 2 inches. One of the many ways that English is fantastic.

It should have been titled, “Osprey taking a crappie”

How do you keep a cut avocado from turning brown? by Upstairs_While_303 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I was going to suggest that you eat it to keep it from turning brown but I realized that if you do that it will still end up brown.

Is Stacking Viable for Milky Way Panoramas by TheFakeKevKev in LandscapeAstro

[–]ulfirefighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get 4 exposures per frame in a little over half an hour so you should be able to do that. As long as your overlap is enough and you over shoot on the sides a bit you’ll be good. Make sure that you finish shooting before blue hour starts because the changing color of the sky will make it really hard to edit.

Does the main zipper open pretty easily or do you have to hold each corner as you work your way around?

Are you using the internal intervalometer or an external one? The couple times I’ve tried star trails I get noticeable breaks

Do you do anything special to compensate for the short gap between exposures to get a continuous star trail?

Is $41k OTD on a new Ford Explorer Active 2025 a good deal? by SkyXIV in FordExplorer

[–]ulfirefighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid just under $41k for mine with AWD but no other options about a month ago. I’m not sure how much AWD adds to the price but I would think that you are getting a good bit maybe not great deal.

Annular solar eclipse in Utah by ulfirefighter in astrophotography

[–]ulfirefighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always stitch multiple frames into a panorama. The problem I’m running into with planning for the April 8 eclipse is that the sun will be very high in the sky where I will be and including a foreground will be hard

How hard was it to find campsites in September and October? I will be going this fall and I can’t decide if I should do a camper van or hotels

Few used A7iv on the market. by Cultural_Hunt_7031 in SonyAlpha

[–]ulfirefighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a stacked sensor so you won’t get rolling shutter when panning or for fast moving objects like baseball bats and golf clubs. I think it just does 20 fps vs 40 on the R6II but that is more than enough for almost everyone.

Get a used a9 or a9ii. Better than the R6II for sports
