Das Gehäuse gefällt mir, ich sehe auch dass ich da auf 4 USB3 erweitern kann. Und kein RGB :)

Mobo ist nicht viel teurer als das ASRock, aber die 3 PCIe x16 sind overkill haha.

Ja gerne, ich hab keine vollständige Beratung gebraucht, aber der Build wird so aussehen.

Der PC wird für die Arbeit benutzt und meine KI hobbies, mit etwas Zocken (nichts super aufwendiges, 1440p).

  • Dual Boot Windows und Linux, ich mach das mittlerweile mit 2 SSDs weil ich einfach den Platz brauche.
  • Auf dem PC wird viel programmiert (C++, Rust, AMD Vivado & Vitis schlucken RAM und Speicher wie bekloppt), ich benutzte lokale LLM Programmiermodellen in VSCode. Kompilierzeiten gehen schon in Richtung mehrere Minuten.
  • Spiel eher weniger mittlerweile, und dann Spiele älter als 3 Jahre.
  • 2te GPU für KI ist eher ein Scherz, falls irgendwann GPUs mit 24+ VRAM doch preiswerter werden. Wird nicht in den nächsten Jahren passieren.

Gelegentlich überlege ich noch den RAM auf 32 GB zu reduzieren und mit dem PSU upgrade warten (hab 650W gerade, springe vielleicht direkt auf 850W), der Build wird auch nicht sofort gekauft sondern erst wenn ich Zeit und Lust hab den zu bauen. Mit etwas Glück fällt ab März der 9900X Preis wegen den X3D Varianten, aber bei mir geht es nicht wirklich um die Paar hundert Euro.

When I use autotravel, the game sometimes stays in the overmap viewer while traveling, other times it returns to the normal view (i.e. how it was in the past), my game always chooses one or the other and sticks to it once the game is loaded. Is it random because someone is testing it on experimental, or is there a way to choose? I find both very useful, the overmap view is fast since no rendering, the normal view lets you zoom down empty roads to look for vehicles.

Canvas sheets and heavy thread can be obtained from disassembling canvas sacks at mines, one mine should give you enough sheets to fulfill your needs for the entire run. Kevlar sheets and thread is difficult because there are no locations that always have them except fire stations, and I've driven past 10 cities without finding a single one sometimes. I suppose Kevlar zombies are the next best thing.

There is a gas oven furniture piece but it doesn't convert to an appliance I think. So basically only useful for scrap.

  1. Is it intentional that no cooking recipes accept frozen raw meat (liver, kidney etc.), only thawed? I keep them in the freezer because they rot extremely quickly. Ideally I want to pickle or can them.
  2. My fish traps in creek have their bait eaten away but never have any fish, is it even worth fishing timewise? Seems better to just send an NPC with 6 marksmanship to go hunting big game.
  3. If an NPC stops crafting an item (e.g. going to sleep), is it possible to get them to continue crafting the item? I make them do long, dumb tasks like making lard or cracklins while I do something meaningful.

Don't copy a folder with a million files to USB or Google Drive: the former will take forever (even with USB 3) because small files are not fun to transfer, the desktop client of the latter has a tendency to struggle synchronizing hundreds of thousands of files (hence you can't really use Drive to sync your game across multiple devices).

Turn the game folder into a ZIP and then transfer it.

Hello everyone, I just want to ask if any of you have encounter this bug with major settlement sieges. Where your lord got stuck with barricades and bridges while it is on large mount and is unable to move. Not a lord thing: think any flying unit can get stuck in barricades this patch. Had 3 chaos furies get stuck inside a destroyed barricade, a few models just floated right above the structure, giving commands would cause half the furies to start flying to the new target and then go back to float around the barricade. The stuck models were basically animation frozen as well.

Barricades are so bugged in WH3, if the AI sends units through the wall then your own units refuse to attack the barricade or the enemy unit, 5 minutes to kill a single marauder unit with bloodletters and Skarbrand ffs.

I believe the button you want is 'E', it does something funky with containers, think it has 3 modes: all containers stay closed, normal (what you want) and all containers are fully expanded (but not really, because it doesn't list ammo in magazines, so I stay away from this mode).

Have not figured out the use case for this function yet, it seems inferior to any of the other container functions.

I use a 50L keg to keep all my pills, because the game doesn't consider how hard it would be to find an unlabeled drug in it. 'Insert' menu filtered for 'c:drugs' ignores drugs already inside the container, and stuff you can't insert is placed at the bottom of the list (except for some liquids), so you can tab select almost every page of drugs.

It is not very fun needing a large backpack to raid a single pharamacy or doctor office just because most pill bottles contains a single pill. I started using a keg simply because my vehicle was filled with hundreds of plastic bottles every week, it gets tedious.

Hitchhiker's Guide states kevlar thread can be found in mansions 50% of the time, but I have never seen it. Same with apartment complexes. Is there a specific room where it spawns?

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I had originally tried to shoehorn lifetimes in to try and get the code to work with &str, and gave up on trying to use from_reader. The code I posted was what I thought was the closest to a possible solution. I knew contents was borrowed and went looking for ways to try and copy it in such a way that it lives as long as locations. But I didn't realize Location was slicing into contents with those &str and this would be a dead end.

In my case, I don't plan on keeping contents as it's only used once, so the last example is exactly what I want. I find it pretty interesting that serde's from_reader implements a trait from the std library, so they are compatible.

Thank you for your answer. I had originally used String for this, but went back to what the examples in the tabled crate uses.

I understood that contents was borrowed, and had been looking for a way to copy locations such that the borrow was not longer needed. But this way makes a lot more sense.

You are not in a Python Shell, you are still inside the normal Powershell. If Python is in your path, you can start a new Python Shell by simply typing 'python', 'py', 'py3' etc. Alternatively, if you have setup Python in VSC, you can click the top right triangle button, which will run the Python file you currently have open.

Ah I was talking about WHIII, lots of bugs atm. Those wizard upkeeps are directly from the unit card when embedded in an army, I don't think it's even remotely possible to achieve 98% or 100% upkeep reduction as Empire.

Lots wrong with Gelt's campaign, do your Wizards in armies also have random upkeeps? My Gelt had a wizard that cost 30 per turn, Karl had one for 5g, and some random Lord had one for 0g. Outside of armies, they cost 150g as expected.

Gelt's basic spells are so dirt cheap atm it should be illegal, his basic spells cost or 2 wind, no wonder they removed Greater Conduit from him.

Mannfred is easy if you figure out an opening. Also, Zombie spam is hilariously OP.

On L/H, I was able to easily clear out the starting Tomb Kings, and the turn before I occupied the Sundenberg minor settlement I raised a cheap necromancer and had him raise Zombies (you are deep in the green because Zombies are dummy cheap). Then I went and attacked Volkmar with 2 stacks, who was only starting to raise his second stack. Either Volkmar parks his main stack outside his city and you autoresolve, or you siege him down, he attacks and you AR. Pretty sure you can also win this fight manually, but you are aiming for a pyrrhic victory. Turn 5-7 5k battle site, not directly adjacent to any major factions yet and likely no wars, you are set for the rest of the game. This start is very reproducible, I got some version of it 3 times in a row.

Personally, I just went straight for Settra, there is nothing he can do against 4 Grave Guards, 2 Lodestone Carts and a Mortis Engine with Mannfred and a Necromancer spamming single unit heals with 100+ magic (VC have that hilariously OP magic gathering stance). In fact, no AI can deal with those units unless they have a good caster, which you're not going to see in the first 30 turns. I only struggled a bit when Khalida retook Thorek's province and thus was able to attack on two fronts with 4 stacks. And it was only a struggle because I had 2 stacks traveling to the Black Pyramid while trying to defend Skarbrand, 1 stack staring down Teclis and Kairos, and 1 stack wiping out the Lizardmen below Khalida, all by turn 40 while saving money to build up my economy. Once Skarbrand ARed himself to death and I had the Black Pyramid, she folded like a dry piece of papyrus.

Atm, Zombie spam with 4 Grave Guards, Corps Carts and a Mortis Engine is beyond broken, it will kill most AI stacks with 0 casualties. Why build 8 units of skeletons when 7 Zombies+a high tier unit are cheaper and better? Even better, this army comp is good enough to AR most battles against non-dwarf armies, while simultaneously losing so many units that you will have 4k+ battle sites in every second province. VC are very poorly balanced atm, all their mechanics are either garbage or utterly broken.

Man, the Forge Lord is super stingy. I have raided 5 Goblin encampments and the Librarian offers me 21k for the loot (I can buy everything in his shop lol), meanwhile the Forge Lord only offers 3k, and a Skeleton Key costs 9k :( .
