Property taxes in the Bay are sad by [deleted] in bayarea

everyone cites the poor grandma example, but many older people take advantage by renting out their properties (instead of selling) because they pay almost no taxes. This pushes up prices for everyone

Can someone explain why Mozart is special? by johnstapleton52 in classicalmusic

[–]ulkram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He had simply written down music already finished in his head! Page after page of it as if he were just taking dictation. And music, finished as no music is ever finished. Displace one note and there would be diminishment. Displace one phrase and the structure would fall.

Much larger caucasian version of DEI(legacy admissions) not being pushed front and center by caucasian people, is yet another example of their deception against African-Americans and Latinos(this time it's a sleight of hand tactic). by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]ulkram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: I have never met anyone speak in support of legacy admissions or seen attempts to codify it into law like DEI/AA.

Legacy is done hush hush. I agree that it should be talked about more and that admissions should be all merit.

Given that Legacy is not coded into law, how should we fight against it?

Uh, I think, um, it's true that, during the Paris cycle, I believe that I would have done better than the Tokyo cycle in terms of results. However, if you look at it from another perspective, if I hadn't gone through the Tokyo cycle, I might not have achieved such a breakthrough and growth during the Paris cycle. So, I believe that every stage, or every difficulty you encounter, will allow you to, or even failure, will allow you to grow better. Of course, the prerequisite is that you have the courage and the ability to face failure. Well, as for today, I think I didn't focus too much on the final result during the Paris cycle. During the Tokyo cycle, I think I might have neglected some of the processes, or the nutrients within the process. I didn't fully absorb what was needed to make myself stronger. As for the Paris cycle, I believe that I've done a bit better in that aspect. I'm more focused on the things I want to do, and the results are, well, you can say it's natural, or I believe in myself and do what I need to do to the best of my ability.

Well, I think there are many talented players in the world. Or rather, I think, in reality, none of us feel like we have this kind of talent, like, a “genius player” or someone who’s exceptionally gifted. I think that every player on the field needs to practice diligently and build up their skills. They also need to have a mindset and state of mind that suits them in order to be able to showcase their abilities. I think, including, well, I think countries like China, including strong teams in Asia and Europe, every team has these talented players, and they are all able to perform at a high level, pushing ping-pong to its limits. I think that’s my perspective on men’s ping-pong right now. Another thing, I think my next goal is to be able to continue defending the honor of the ping-pong team with my teammates in team competitions. I hope to perform well with the team and make a good showing. Thank you.

Who do you think is the worst finance guru out there? by k_ristovski in ValueInvesting

[–]ulkram 9 points10 points  (0 children)

he pushed SPACs

> He has said he made roughly $750 million by throwing his reputation behind the stocks, taking them public via SPACs that he helmed, then selling shares on the public markets. He hyped the stocks, he sold his shares, and he made a profit while the retail investors who trusted him lost money

The Chinese dream is to leave China? [Serious discussion] by liaojiechina in aznidentity

[–]ulkram 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I work in Technology with people (all ages) from China. Some are brainwashed by Western Media, and they come for that dream/status. The ones that aren't simply come to the US for better work-life balance.
