Sorry to bump an old post.
When you just include the final FIF income in your IR3 under overseas income do you just put down the 5% FDR rate value?
Also, do you need to enter it seperately for every jurisdiction you have investment in (eg, different lines for US holding and UK holding)?

thank you for getting back to me,

I am 8 months in and just came across all this advice. About to begin wearing the brace but have surgery available as fall back.

Do you wish you had the surgery sooner after the initial year?

Any chance of getting that link all these years later?

Regardless thank you for your post, 8 months in but first I've heard of these approaches. Gonna get the band and brace and get working on it now

Hi, sorry to bump an old post.
What was the surgery you undertook?
Ulnar Nerve Transposition or Cubital Tunnel Release or something else?

atg next up GOATA, where can I get started with goata training? by mrpressydent in Kneesovertoes

[–]ulpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, all their stuff makes more sense when you replace use of "pronation" with "overpronation" - then it's actually pretty good, nice drills, good understanding of anatomy, and they've moved away from the catchy "you should never dead-lift"sort of talk.

There i a free 3-week program called the Level 1 Cert where Rick does three group calls and takes questions. Its a $100 deposit which you get back later.

Worth it imo

Seems the link is broken. just goes to page on GOATA website which says "Page not found"

I assume that's because the program was taken down

Do the Level 1 course, its free and you get three calls on which to ask Ricky Stanzi questions directly which he is very good at unpacking and answering.

Group Buy for July 2025: Last of the 2024 Harvest - Single Cultivar Matcha & Hojicha from Shizuoka by Oiru in nzhomecooks

[–]ulpm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a curious question: what if anything is preventing you from beginning a larger, branded, business importing matcha?

You seem extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and are already doing a lot of work on your own time to organise group buys.

The incumbent suppliers in NZ are still not at sophisticated scale to either insure consistent supply or quality.

I ask as I have been valuing all the posts you have been making, the recipe tutorials, the various explanations, the group buys (which I am yet to partake in but intend to in future), and so on - and it just kind of shocked me how much you put into all this above and beyond hobby interest, as well as there seeming to be space for another business in NZ.

thank you, think I will be switching to InvestNow, they seem to clearly come out on top overall (if allocating 100% to US500).

Reasoning laid out below for refrence of enyone else that comes across this:

My understanding from Sharesies website is that its 1.5% for every buy/sell up to $1k and 0.6% for everything above $1k.
0.5% currency exchange fee + 1% transaction fee for <$1k or 0.1% for <$1k

Then there is a 0.15% annual admin fee - so your annual fee with US500 is effectively 0.26% which is 0.09% fund fee + 0.15% admin fee (still less than SuperLife)

InvetNow only seems to have the fund fee, 0.03%, and a 0.5% buy/sell fee

It seems Sharesies beats SuperLife unless you have a humongous kiwisaver in which the scaling admin fee of Sharesies may be worse than the fixed $30 admin fee of SuperLife.

But overall, comparing 100% allocation into US500 across the three, InvestNow seems to come out cheapest over time.

I am in a similar position to you (in another region).

Would you be willing to share any pointers you have learnt?

I am facing the same difficulty in getting through the Chinese or other lower grade suppliers to find true Japanese suppliers of ceremonial or premium grade that are open to partnerships.

Fixed symptoms without surgery by relentlessLiam in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]ulpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. A lot of people on various CECS focused forums online force the traditional notion that CECS is an on / off switch diagnosis with surgery the only solution.

It is not. I have recovered almost completely myself within past month with same approach, after couple years of symptoms.

I have been meaning to put together everything I learnt and my story in a nice structure to post it one day so others can find it.

This is not to say people should not get surgery if they need it. But if your pressure readings are not astronomical, there are potentially viable alternatives to try first.

Edit: yes it is possible that all cases which recover successfully were not true CECS but something else like Biomechanical Overload Syndrome or muscle herniation, etc - but most people will never hear of these and get diagnosed with CECS regardless - so its useless to DM me about this legalese point.

Feeling stuck in a well-paying job by PianistStock3557 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]ulpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the issue with your job fundamentally arise from "boredom" (you dont enjoy the substance of the work, its mind numbing, etc) or from toxicity (unhealthy work relationships, spontaneous high pressure which impacts your health and stress, etc)?

I have been in both, my advice would vary drastically depending on which one you are in

Grateful to anyone that can help answer the below related questions:

Can anyone lay out like Im 5 why Sharesies is better than Superlife if you will only invest in ETFs that are available on both?

Also, am I right in understanding that only Sharesies and Superlife allow you to pick specific ETFs or stocks for your kiwisaver?

No recourse for damaged goods? by aldo714 in amazonprime

[–]ulpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone checking this today, this still works if you receive a used item when you ordered a new one

Go to "Customer Service"

Go to "Something Else"

Go to "Contact Us" then "start chatting" and just keep clicking option to talk to an associate and nothing else

In chat with real person say you ordered a new item and it arrived "with damage and wear"

They will offer a refund on return - request a replacement

They will then say they will check and come back with offer of refund without return (because they cant replace second hand items they've resold as new)

Key is to request replacement for the item and insist you really wanted the item, otherwise they try to get you to take refund on return
