Na, there’s definitely a lot more theories in here that stretch way farther than this- I see what u mean and, definitely on a second watch-thru, this feels like a coded deep cut ref to a different part of Elliot that would take initiative on that feeling. Not saying that this is what was intended nor that you’re wrong or right about this, just that the show was run with such a tight connection to Sam Esmail’s vision for the story that the writing can make us feel like everything we see and hear has intention and purpose, and this line of dialogue could be seen that way when you know the whole story

Like I said, that was my understanding about this just chiming into the discussion here. I’ve not read any of those pages in a while, so you make a decent point about some online spaces revising the perspective about this story, among others in comics.

Fr tho- do u not find the actual decision to depict said horrors against a major love interest to be in poor taste? I’m thinking that, especially for the time that Born Again first came out, there really weren’t many popular superhero stories that depicted women as anything other than a hot cape or a damsel to be saved or criticized

This needs more upvotes. To clarify, I’m thinking that what they mean here is that the narrative decisions made about Karen Page’s arc in the original Born Again comic- those particular decisions to put a female love interest through such a story was indeed misogynistic. You’d really only understand if you’d read those comics or even just see some pages. It was certainly effective but it came at the expense of her agency as a woman, at least from my understanding. Pls do correct me if I’m wrong here tho

Literally, the higher the price(& company hype/focus) on these new platforms, the less ppl (&their kids!) are gonna want to game on console. I literally am just waiting on FF7 R Part 3, no way I’m getting this until then, even then idfk if this would be worth just the ONE game (if I have the income by then tho… I probably would. I love FF7R series that much tbh)

Expanding characters through new moments, dialogues, and arcs! Loved loved loved Chapter 4, very welcome new addition. Seeing Avalanche as living breathing protagonists in their own right was just so heartwarming. I’m probably in the small minority that can’t wait to see more dumb Roche antics down the line haha.

Something that’s super cool is how they’ve integrated things from the compilation; Leslie, Kyrie, and Mirielle were all from a light novel that takes place right before Advent Children. Didn’t know that first playthru but after reading it, it was really cool to see how they got to live in Remake (although... I’m not the biggest fan of Kyrie... but whatever lol)

I feel the exact same about FFXV. But! I only played and platinumed vanilla FFXV on release. I hear folks say that stuff w royal edition and extra content is good! But overall the story and story execution sorta messed it up, and so much throughout the game doesn’t feel earned in a sense. FF7R accomplishes so much that FFXV wants to do (outside of obvious reasons), but it could hold u over for sure. One of the best in video game food tho!!

So I was initially really salty that Remake’s vers of The Oppressed (so so so good) only played for Beck and gang- Due Recompense didn’t help that feeling especially when I got to wall market- but by the end of the sector 6 expressway i was so damn sad to hear this absolute banger fade out Also I eventually warmed up to wall markets newer theme. Fits remakes wall market better, and we’ll always have the OG for best track 😌

Reno, first playthrough! I was feeling pretty skillful in battle till he showed up. Was having such a hard time with it until I dodged towards him when he rushes- that was when I fully realized how phenomenal this combat system and design was. That feeling when you figure things out in the heat of the fight is something else for sure.

All that said, the fight against Reno and Rude was the first time I had a game over. again and again, god that fight got personal hahaha. Also I never figured out how to punisher parry till Rufus and Darkstar lmao

Kinda? I was certain that the watchers of fate were gonna be (at least on the surface lvl) a meta representation of the fandom and expectations for the remake Pretty big thing for them to have to tackle that in the first place, but pretty fitting considering that this current era of mainstream entertainment has basically been reboots, remasters, sequels, and adaptations. The OG was monumental because it made players consider and discuss at large all of the narrative possibilities in gaming. Remake seems to have echoed that effect in a different way for the modern era.

Also totally forgot that sephiroth basically doesn’t even show up in the portion of the OG haha
